I like most Collingwood supporters would be loath to see us trade good and popular players such as Burns and Micheal, but football has become a business and decissions must be made that will not sit well with everyone.
Now if an uncontracted, interstate player deciedes he wants to return to his home state it is better to trade him and get something back in return. If the club plays hard ball and does not trade they risk losing the player in the pre-season draft and getting sweat bugger all.
Collingwood is not in a position where it can afford to lose good players and recieve nothing in return.
It is also important to remember that to get something good you must give up something of simular value. (Collingwood / Richmond trades aside)
