Anyone else notice our forward structure?

Fotr most of the game we had only Tuckey in the 50, and he continually ran to the wing as if following the Fullback....but the fullback (Luff / Schauble) mostly stayed in our 50, hence got the easy clearance. I lost count of the number of times our midfielders looked up to see who to kick to and NO-ONE was in the forward 50.

What the hell kind of structure is this?????? It was obviously what MM wanted, as Mick Gayfer never ran out to tell them anything was wrong. It was only when Bucks & a couple of others finally stationed themselves permanently in the 50 that we scored another 4 goals in that last quarter.

And a seagull summed up the game for me by shitting on my head from a great height when we were 7 goals down in the last quarter.

When does the cricket start?

Even though we won three quarters of the game, we still could not play well in the third! 7 goals to 2... Damn it!

The quote is quite true...

If you look at quarters 1, 2, and 4..then add the amount of points we kicked in those particular quarters, they will be greater than that of Sydeny.

It all adds up to Collingwood 63, Sydney, 57.

We only really won the first quarter.

Then we got the first goal of the 2nd quarter. The wheels then fell off. I knew we were gone by half-time.

The third quarter was a white-wash.

Although we outscored them in the last quarter, the game was well and truly over by then. So it really didn't count.

Verdict: Collingwood won 1st quarter
Sydney won 2nd and 3rd quarters
Last quarter didn't matter.

You people seem to be overlooking one minor detail: our game is played in 4 quarters.

The result is determined by adding up the scores in all 4 quarters.

Perhaps you would like the rules committee to consider a change along the lines of:

RULE X: AT THE CONCLUSION OF EACH GAME A POLL SHALL BE HELD AMONG THE SUPPORTERS TO DETERMINE WHICH 3 QUARTERS WILL BE USED TO DETERMINE THE FINAL SCORE. WHEN THIS POLL IS CONCLUDED (USING A "ROAR-METER") THE 3 NOMINATED QUARTERS WILL THEN BE ADDED UP AND A FINAL RESULT TALLIED. ALL PLAYERS AND SUPPORTERS MUST THEN ERASE FROM THEIR MEMORY ALL TRACE OF THE UNWANTED QUARTER, NEVER TO BE MENTIONED AGAIN.

Yes, that's the way to make our club great: ignore the poor play and the fact that we can't put together a whole game. Let's rest on the laurels of 2 or 3 good quarters and forget the final result.

Gee, I feel all warm and fuzzy already.

Well, it's an interesting suggestion, Broadie. But I think it needs some fine tuning.

I feel the results of the Roar-meter should certainly be factored into the final analysis, but only on a pro-rata basis. To completely disregard the quarter in question would be to disenfranchise those who roared in its favour. I would use a formula by which the square root of the sum of the three other quarters was considered as equal to sum of the square of the hypotenuse, where the cosine of x is directly proportional to the sum of the three sides of the centre square.

By my caculations that puts us on top of the ladder.
