Josh Schache up for trade (gone to the Dogs)

Post by AN_Inkling »

Homesick and on the trading block. Pies, Tigers and Blues listed as interested with a late first round pick said to be the price.

I'd much prefer something like this to drafting a KPP. Having two young talls of a similar age developing together would be perfect. If our recruiters like him, this is a signing I'd definitely get behind.

Pick 6,36 for Schache 18,41.

Get it done.

Honestly if we let him slip to Richmond or Carlton Swoop is going to get upset.
He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD!

I'm really torn on this one.
There's been big rumours up here for a long time that his general attitude is way below the expected standard of a AFL player.
They've tried many things with the kid including giving him specialist one on one coaching with Jonathon Brown to providing him with a personal pyschcologist
Home sickness could be true or it could be a bit of spoiled brat behaviour from a young player who just think he doesn't have to work hard to achieve any form of success
If the lions are prepared to accept a late first round pick for mine it would sound massive alarm bells after they gave up pick 2 for him.
Buyer beware
Do your home work really well on this one
I wouldn't be offering any more than a 2 year deal and then it would come with massive incentive clauses in his contract as a safe guard for the club.
No need to get into a bidding war for him if he nominates us then it has to be on our terms not his or the lions

More speculation. 20% extra in the cap means we do. In saying that there is no leaks coming out of the club. This is pre 2010 stuff.

@TomBrowne7
(1/2) Just on pies money. They had salary space for Devon Smith. So there is some room there. But it's fair to say Hine has them too close
(2/2) to limit given list. That's part of the reason behind changes in list department with Ned Guy concentrating on deals #tomtradeweek

Having said that I know nothing about Schache other than he was a high pick.

Still unproven at AFL Level

The extra 20% coupled with who knows how many front ended deals to cover the the loss of the salaries of Cloke Swan Brown Frost Williams Kennedy Toovey etc all in 1 year. I would have thought we would have had money set aside in the 2017 cap for Cloke Swan and a couple others minimum. Mayne Wells got a combined $1.3 the combined salaries on the low end of the players we lost would have been over $2.5 so my calculations means we would have had the luxury to front end some salaries
No one other than those inside the club know our exact salary cap limits
Culprit I've also noted there's been no confirmed leaks from the club in the past season when in the past years it's leaked like a sive
This new silence whilst frustrating is fantastic in many ways

Good to see that there are no leaks from within the club. Lets judge them on results once the trade period is over and in the meantime speculate on who is available and their worth to the Pies.

Schache is a big gamble that could pay handsomely. Pick 6? Dunno. Been plenty in the past who've been originally top 3's but ended up busts. He could be a Boyd type. If Swoops suggestion could get it done, you'd probably take it. Would it be enough though?

Schache was an interesting prospect as a junior.
He didn't get a lot of the ball as a junior but his big strength was that he was a dead eye dick in front of goal. This seems to have deserted him in his last two years in the AFL.
You would think the kicking confidence and mechanics would come back to him but I'm not convinced he has any other strings to his bow.
There are just so many young KPFs who struggle to make the transition from playing against boys up to playing against men. It's a tough gig but he is still young.
On exposed form, I would rather take pick 6 to the draft.
