I was a bit worried when I saw this comment but he didn't apologize and stood by his comments. Good on him for speaking truth to power, even if it cost him professionally (maybe, was probably due to retire anyway).

I’ve sometimes thought of Newman as representing the quintessential Australian approach to politics: not very well-informed and proud of it, opinionated, angry at everything and an incessant moralist. He really should be our PM.

^^ Must agree, David.

In an field over-populated with wankers, Newman still managed to stand out.

What Sam said:
He has been in jail five times, he held up a pregnant black woman with a knife, he's a drug addict, he's a crackhead and he's a porn star," Newman said.

"He's dead because of the police brutality and it never should have happened,
"But I am telling you who George Floyd is, now they've made a monument about him and he's a piece of shit."

I love Sam! I don’t always agree with what he says, but at least he says what he thinks

We know what Newman thinks of non-white people; look at the Nicky Winmar incident from years back. There’s a reason why he feels the need to say this now, too.
