Media’s pretty quiet about this, only got a brief mention by 7’s Tom Browne last night, and in the middle of his other “scoops.” Imagine if it were Collingwood players. Stengle’s second incident this year too. Just another brief mention tonight too! What a ducking joke the media is, absolute double standards with us and other clubs.

It was mentioned in the news bulletins I saw.

The police and club did not say what the illicit substance was, but 9/Fairfax is happy to say it's cocaine.

Yep they'd be off to the gallows, or enjoying a last meal on their way to the chair...

Bloody hell, it’d be front page news in the US and be more important than the presidential election. Everyone and their dog would be publishing an opinion piece on Collingwood’s bad culture. It’d save Daniel Andrews’s political career. We’d never hear the end of it, morning to night.

Is there a way to combat this blatant double standard by challenging or confronting the perpetrators in the media? Surely Collingwood have vast amounts of supporters to make a difference? Or do the media just get away with this stuff? There must be a way to make them accountable.

Jack Watts, did a runner after a drunken crash and quit the club so he didn’t have to face the heat when it got public.

Two Adelaide players caught with coke.

Adelaide staffer done for underage kids.

Sydney player arrested for domestic violence.

Brief mention in the news and nothing else. I know people who had no idea about the Adelaide coke bust, but they were jumping all over JDG and Sidey like they’re the worst criminals in history.

It isn't actually bias. It is simply that Collingwood players are big news in Victoria and these blokes playing for other clubs - well, no-one cares about them.

It was different in the Adelaide Advertiser. There have been at least three major stories about the Crows, alone, in the last 24 hours. I doubt they will have bothered much with stories about Sidey - but I don't really care: ultimately our blokes get mentioned because stories about them are newsworthy and - because our team is so widely hated - bad news stories about Collingwood sell more news-content (I almost wrote "papers") than good news ones do.

Also, memo to you and all that - Sidey and JdG should not be discussed in the same breath in this context. JdG is accused of very serious criminal misconduct. Sidey just broke some quarantine arrangements. The two are certainly not comparable.

Yes, Presti35. Quite right.
