Next big thing

Post by stui magpie »

And the next big thing to hit Australia from overseas is a lot better than Coronavirus but may not be to everyone's taste.

It is (drumroll) Hard Seltzer.

Seltzer is what the yanks call soda water and using hard with that means it's got alcohol.

It's got a small foothold here but expect blanket marketing and supply increase. It's your UDL or breezer for the health conscious, marketed as gluten free, low carb, low calorie, low or no sugar, all natural.

Err ... and how many centuries have we been drinking whisky and soda? What will they discover next? The wheel? Fire? How many circles make a right angle?

Think of it more like your vodka, lime and soda.

Not many under 30's females are into Scotch.

The red headed chick was very excited to see that Whiteclaw was available at Dans. Whiteclaw is one of the hard selzters. She heard about it via social media.

She was excited until she saw the price and realised I wasn’t going to include it in the wine order

doubt it will take off here, especially with the amount of tax that gets added to pre-mixed drinks in Aus.

I read somewhere that a couple of the big players looking to come into the Aus market are looking to get around the tax by somehow making it "brewed" rather than blended.
