A TAC Cup premiership mentor will coach the Magpies’ second-tier team, which will be part of a new 22-team competition next year.
Black is a former player for Frankston in the VFL and was on Carlton's playing list in the AFL. After playing TAC Cup for Dandenong, Black was drafted by Carlton in the 1997 national draft. He spent two seasons with the Blues but was unable to break into the senior side, and was delisted at the end of the year.
Black returned to his junior club, Rosebud in the MPNFL, and later played for the Frankston Dolphins. He then moved into coaching, and in 2018 coached his former TAC Cup team Dandenong to a premiership.
Bit of a surprise, but we have filled the job. Now to the AFL assistants....
