There’s been some talk out of the western oval for the western bulldogs to change its name back to the original Footscray. Not sure on this year but most likely next year.
To me I never liked the western bulldogs should have always kept the Footscray name. But like the kangaroos now changed back to north Melbourne.Nowadays it’s north Melbourne. Same to be done with the dogs.

What next? Collingwood to carringbush? The demons to redlegs? Sydney to south Melbourne? Hawks to mayflowers? Geelong to handbags? Carlton to scumbags? Brisbane to bears?

I always thought "Western" sounded stupid in a national competition.
We have West Coast, in Perth. We have GWS (Western Sydney). Western just seemed silly to me. I get that they tried to re-identify themselves and went looking for a wider supporter base but what are they? West Melbourne? Western Victoria?
Going back to "Footscray" would be a positive move imo.
And dont get me started on "Western United" in the A-League. How original... "Western", in a national comp, when Tarniet is located in the countries south east. And "United", never heard that name in soccer before.
