Qualifying Final - Pies vs Roos

Saturday 3 April @ 3.10pm. Venue Vic Park.

This is going to be a tough game, suggest the Roos may be slight favourites coming of a win and with a day extra to recover and no travel.

Hopefully Sophie Casey is OK to play as not sure who can come in to replace her as a defender. Imogen Purcell is listed & playing as a defender in the VFLW but I don't think she is ready for AFLW just yet.

Kirsty Stratton played well in the VFLW and kicked 3 goals (would have had 4 but had to go off with blood rule), so she could add experience and goal scoring which was lacking in the Crows game.

At least we get a chance to make up for last years finals exit against the Roos.

I'd be very pleased to make up for that one.

North have become a bit of an AFLW rival, by getting a few of our players in their first season, and then knocking us out last year.

So yeah, I'm annoyed we didnt get a top 2 finish, but I am pleased to get a chance at North.

Injury update:

Sophie Casey (Concussion): 1 week
Will miss Saturday’s qualifying final with concussion. The defender was involved in a tough collusion with Stevie-Lee Thompson that saw her ruled out of the second half of the game.

She’ll be sidelined for at least the next week and will be monitored through her return to play program.

Erica Fowler (Shoulder): Test
Had a posterior subluxation episode during Sunday’s game after landing awkwardly on her arm. Despite playing out the match, she’ll undergo a fitness test later in the week to determine her availability for Saturday’s qualifying final.

Collingwood 3.4, North 1.0, early in the second quarter.

Falling down badly up forward - they've had all the inside 50s and done little.

Tarni Brown with an interesting shot at goal.... (Norths goal)

Tarni Brown just had a brain fade and kicked a magnificent snap for North. She'll never live that one down. Let's hope we don't lose by a point.

And from the kick in, North take control and kick a goal they haven't looked like kicking for half an hour.

North have turned it on since the Brown point.

2 quick ones and now it's 3 points the difference.

Collingwood are going to go into half time barely ahead, despite dominating almost the entire first half. They need to increase their scoring options next year. This game should have been buried, instead of which they now lead 3.4 to 3.1.

Yeah. It's been all Collingwood and then a dropped mark by Norder in D50 after Brown snapped a point for them and they goal. Then they won the center clearance and goaled again. 2 very quick goals is all it takes in this comp.

We've gone forward plenty of times for no reward. Lots of silly decisions and mis-kicks in F50.

We might be down in the rooms at half time. Really gut wrenching to be dominating the game and then letting them right back in.

It's hot out there too.

To be fair, it was pretty stupid to centre that ball to Norder, knowing full well it’d be 2 to 1 at ground level, if she didn’t mark.
