What's wrong with the VPT?
The number of people posting regularly in the VPT has reduced significantly.
Earlier today there was a post about inter-state parochialism impacting their enjoyment of the page, which some agreed with.
So regardless of whether you were a regular or not, if you think the Vic Park Tavern has changed for the worse, tell us why?
I can personally promise that the Mods will do absolutely nothing to change anything, but maybe people themselves will be able to reflect and take on board the results. Or not.
Everyone likes a good vent.
Only thing I'd ask is, no attacking posts or posters. If someone posts a reason why they don't like the VPT anymore and you thinks it's bullshit, leave it alone. It's their opinion, they're entitled to post it whether you like it or not.

I selected too much fighting but it's more than that. VPT seems to be heading in the same direction as twitter, facebook etc etc where views become more and more distorted and extreme. People end up bunkering down on one 'side' or the other.
Even though I disagreed with their political philosophies I used to like reading (some) of Mugwump's and Wokko's posts. Whether they left because they didn't enjoy having their views challenged or whether they felt they were being personally attacked I don't know. I suspect it's the latter.

Side by side.

I agree.Trolling should never be acceptable on forums like this. One of the posters here used to troll me relentlessly,so that’s why I stopped posting in this forum.I haven’t seen him post here for quite a while,so maybe he did get banned after all.One can only hope so.think positive wrote:agree, trolls should be banned!

There's nothing wrong with Nick's. It's an option in the broad marketplace of options. It has no obvious intention, so it's not going to please anyone fully, and people will therefore be at cross-purposes.
Saying 'there's too much this or that' is another way of saying 'there's too much free choice to post what you like', so it's an empty lament.
It is as it is. Venting is central to the VPT and venting is multi-directional, meaning that the right to vent comes with the right to be the object of venting.

Or simply asking the questions and giving people opportunity to provide feedback in a semi structured way can provide clarity of thought. Those capable of reflection can view the results and have the option to choose to self modify behaviour or choose to call out things, being given licence by the poll results.
The VPT can be whatever the people who inhabit it, make it and it doesn't need mods or rules to do that

Maybe create a thread tag called something like 'PFFFT' (Politics-free Thread) would work. Then, casual visitors would know which threads to avoid and you get the best of all worlds. I think phpBB has a tagging option somewhere back there.
