Heard he had plenty of people over at his house last night and was rather devastated that he was not called up last night. Was linked to train with Collingwood or Carlton if not picked up today.

I'm very happy as Dean stood out as a type the rookie draft was originally designed for.

Lose cost with potential for a big upside.

Well done Derek.

20 yrs old, 195cm intercept marking defender from Williamstown. Sounds ready made

Really like this selection too. At 20 he has his best football ahead of him and can step in if Moore or Roughead are injured. Also a possibility like Mihocek of playing him in the forward line as he’s a very good mark.

Typed into Google-Williamstown Charlie Dean and watched his highlights at the Seagulls
He looks quite good
Marking. Good
Disposal. Good
Tackling. Good
Defence Good

Kicking skills? Or did you combine that with handballs under disposal?

Nice tall young defender with ability

Can't see Dean staying on the sidelines for long.
I see him forcing his way into the team.

Looks like a solid negating defender who will stay back deep and defend the goal. Good closing speed, doesn't give up if out of position and neat kick. Didn't see any really prolific intercept marking in the highlights video. Think of a more agile, fluent mover Presti type. Is going to have put on some extra size to play on gorillas. The video shows him most often going pretty short by foot after a turnover was forced. When did go long he seems to have decent length to his kicks. Probably not going to get a ton of rebounding disposals. Sticks diligently to his opponent. May be a good balance in defence allowing Moore to rebound and not be dragged back to the oppo goals.

Just watched his short welcome to Collingwood intro video and his very weak “go pies” at the end… I don’t think he was a pies supporter growing up.
