Interesting to see who makes the cut tomorrow in the top 50 - Grundy, Pendles, Moore, Howe, De Goey?.

Collingwood’s highest paid players
According to the Herald Sun, the following Collingwood players are in the top 100:
5 Brodie Grundy $925K - 1,025K
28 Darcy Moore $750K -850K
48 Jordan De Goey $700K - 800K
51 Taylor Adams $675K -775K
74 Steele Sidebottom $600K-700K
Interestingly Pendles is not on the list but rumoured to be on $500K - $600K.
Only 5 players in the top 100, says that we are getting our salary cap in order.

You would think that Sidey, will be earning less next year as well, so all in all our cap must be looking better.
Suggest that we can easily cover Grundy's salary. When you consider that the 38th highest ranked player is Zac Williams from Carlton, who is on $725K -825K. Makes the Grundy deal look okay.

It would be helpful if you could post the full list of 100 - probably in the thread in "Other AFL", if you can. Most of us do not give money to the Herald-Sun.
As I understand it, eg, Max Gawn was on more than $850K and Jarrod Witts on more than $650K last season - it's very difficult to have a useful debate about Collingwood's salary arrangements without knowing what other places who play similar positions are worth.
I mention this because, at the moment - and putting aside all questions about Grundy's competence and value as a footballer (mostly because it is boring when eddiesmith trolls every thread with his anti-Grundy rubbish), it is very difficult to see how the maths works on the recent reports/rumours that Collingwood is shopping Grundy around. Assuming the Club needs a certain number of ruckmen on the list, you have to pay something for the replacement. If you're replacing your first ruck, you need to pay at least whatever an ordinary AFL-standard ruckman is worth. If you pay that to the new player, plus pay up to $300K to another club to play Grundy, it obviously isn't "a million dollars saved, right there" as some morons have been suggesting. In fact, I do not see how there is any significant saving for Collingwood in that example - unless the Club plans to reduce the number of players on the list by one or more, risk not having enough ruckmen on the list and to go in with a ruck line-up that is less than half as good as any ruck line-up we could field with Grundy in it.
Naitanui, eg, was recontracted at age 29 for a further 3 years (ending at the end of this season) for more than $1M per year. That's a lot of money to play a ruckman who rucks only 60% game-time, these days (less against Collingwood, typically, because he isn't physically up to playing more than about half a game in the ruck against Grundy) and has played for a side that's lost 31 and won 12 games in the last two seasons.

Rather than censoring my post, please explain why this thread has been moved from the main board as it is purely about Pies players.
Surely Murdoch hasn't got into your heads that a mere mention of the Herald Sun sends you guys into panic mode.
Simple explanation please. This is about Pies players, so it belongs on the general discussion thread.
