Tyson stengle

I know even a broken clock is right twice a day, but I remember plenty of love on this board to draft Tyson stengle when he was available for a couple of years

We did what the Hawks did to us in 2011, to the Swans this year.

Every other club, including numpty Hine and co, had the opportunity to take him in the 2021 mid season draft.

The stigma of his past were too much to see beyond; them's the breaks.

Even Tyson thought he was coming to the pies,

There was an article in The Age recently where he says he thought the pies were going to grab him in the mid season draft last year but then backed out at the last moment

Don’t underestimate the role Eddie Betts has done mentoring him.
Without the right environment and people around him, the season he’s had was far from guaranteed. There’s every chance has he come to Collingwood his off field issues may have continued. We don’t have a great track record of reigning in repeat offenders - even from well before the days of DeGoey.

Good to see you posting again bro.

Neville Jetta may have been the variable to stabilise him, as Betts' has evidently done; alas, we will never know...

Good point, just look at how Ash Johnson has thrived under Jetta’s wing.

There was plenty of talk about him on this board. Also on McCartin too. But that's the way footy is.

We passed, and Geelong now reap the rewards. Bit of a blunder Pies. AA and 4 goals in a Premiership. Let's hope Hill can do something similar.

I thought Stengle wasn't available in the mid season draft when we were looking at taking him? I know Buckley has definitely said we had interest.

Can't say whether it's coincidence, but we have a much stronger indigenous presence since the do better report and are now seeing more indigenous players coming in, with Hill almost certainly to be added. This puts us in a stronger position to be able to bring in more and for them to thrive. With Betts at Geelong, it was always a good fit for Stengle. Hopefully that will be similar with Hill and Leon (his cousin) and other support staff for us.

Glad this is something we've finally addressed.
Well done boys!

We took Begg instead with our second pick in mid season 2021 draft after taking Johnson with our first. Remember at the time we were linked to both Callow and Stengle with this second pick.
I love the Pies, hate Carlscum
