Possibly the only thing that makes less sense than umpiring and the sub rule is the VFL fixturing. We had a bye in round 6, what do we need another one for now?

They always seem to fixture a couple of Byes close together.
Would be better to space them out or schedule after an interstate trip.

Although TBH, prefer to have these close scheduled Byes early in the season rather than later.

This is what you get with a 20 team competition - 4 Byes per season.
