Really poor start and some really dumb football by our boys. Bit soft so far too

Begg is looking handy!

Freddy has really stood up today. Some magnificent goals long range and from the boundary all in the Casey Field wind.

Begg and Steene done some nice ruck and marking work. Bianco some nice field kicking and took a great defensive pack mark in the Demons square 30seconds from half time. Ruscoe and Kelly been good

Pies up by 4 goals 12mins into the last quarter. I can't remember a win against Casey. C'mon pies

The other one who's done well is Josh Eyre playing full back. Ex Bombers rookie who trialled with the Saints last year. Neat left foot kick. Tall enough. Been able to outpoint Jefferson and Schache for most of the day

Final scores. Pies 11 7 73 to Dees 8 11 59.

Great win against the reigning VFL premiers. Casey did all their scoring in the first quarter and then the Pies defence led by Ruscoe, Jetta and Bianco went to work from quarter time on. Dees poor kicking at goal didn’t help but we took our chances when we went forward.
We had some very solid performances, particularly Krueger who kicked five straight before missing his final two shots in the last quarter. He was a powerhouse and hard to stop when he launched at the footy.
Begg and Steene were both very impressive. Steene has a huge leap and strong hands, while Begg is very good below his knees and fights hard for contested ball.
Bianco and Ruscoe were both great in defence and would be playing senior footy at a number of lesser clubs. Draper has some class but comes and goes a bit to easily, while MacRae and Carmichael were both down on their usual output. Allen and Ryan both looked all class when involved but we’re also a little bit down on their usual output today.
Highest Collingwood listed ball winners - Bianco 22 Ruscoe 21 Begg 18 Steene 18 and Macrae 17
Collingwood listed Goals - Krueger 5 Wilson 2 Kelly 1 Steene 1

Thanks for the summaries guys, I completely forgot this was on today, chasing Grandson all day.

I liked the look of Erye last week, good to see him put together 2 good ones in a row.

They certainly turned things around after quarter time. Krueger a powerhouse. Should’ve kicked 6.
Allen and Ryan coming along nicely, will fill out a bit more and get stronger in the contest. Begg, Bianco, McRae, Ruscoe and Krueger are really solid, capable depth players with senior experience. I’m getting excited about flag potential now. For a pretty inexperienced VFL crew to beat such a tough, talented team at home is a bloody good effort.
