The next few weeks

Post by What'sinaname »

Tough start but it doesn't get any easier

Saints: 50:50
Lions: close to a certain loss
Hawks: They look better than 2023 and pantsed us last year
Port: Top 4 side last year
Essendon: 50:50
Carlton: close to a certain loss

Are we f*&ked?

The more pressing questions are.

Nothing is certain, but as MM said, " the season is a marathon, not a sprint". Long, long way to go yet, but as an aside, how come GWS get Nth today, and next match, the Weagles, seems a tad unfair compared to our run. ?? Granted, both our outings just not good enough, now as Premiers, we are the hunted, as reigning premiers always are. Last yr, the Cats were, now us. For us, is it hubris, some players drinking own bathwater, too cocky, self assured, thught it would all just gell again , hard to say ? The swans loss looked bad, fumbled, out ran, fleet of foot, the overlap, and too many loose man. Both forwards and backs looked all at sea, I knew we would miss Mcstay bigtime, hes a big KPF big unit, and Murphy is huge loss in defence. Hill, Jamie, Checkers have not done enough, but Shulz is OK , give him time, takes several games to settle into a new team, game style, Lobb at the Doggies is good example of that, as of course, was Mc Stay. Look , some changes must be made this week, give that kid Harry DeMattatia, a go, sometimes an injection of youth can spark up a side in a bit of a slump ? Whatever, we must get right down to business now, no more Flag celebrations, must be a huge effort and lift by all players v the Saints, this is a very very vital match, victory is a must for confidence and belief. Time will tell but the ball is still in our court.

Fully agree with your spot on comments. My worst nightmare is that the ‘aints will beat us and I don’t even want to think about that now. The whole team needs to improve as do all the coaches. Not sure if it’s rust or not but the strategies were predictable and easily countered by the Swans. Are they depending on Nick Daicos too much? I don’t know but it was a horrible experience being there to watch a shambolic performance by Collingwood

Really enjoyed 2023 but we got to be realistic and the next 6weeks look tough. Well I'm going in glass half empty for now at 0-8 and if that comes true, everyone will be talking about the mysterious disappearance of Graham Wright. Any improvement on 0-8 will be a bonus as we'll be on the board and and I will be happy very happy with 4-4.

^ Yeh, and remember, last season both the GWS and Bluescum were shocking in early part of season, then they had a run on, and both made a PF, it can be done, we can turn this around, and I have faith in Fly to do just that now.

Didn't we start 2018 0-2 and made the GF?

History is littered with premiership defence starting 0-2 going on to play in the grand final but none have gone on to win the big one.
We don’t want another grand final loss do we?

^I think Brisbane Lions last year were 0-2 and still made the Grand Final.

Correct.
First win was in Round 3 against Carlton.
