200cm 18 yr old ruck forward with serious athleticism. Welcome Illy.
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

His listed attributes are hitouts, physicality and AGGRESSION!! What's not to like about that?

From his highlights of his ruck duels, that certainly seems to be the case. Who knows, but with Cox out he could well end up playing AFL this year. I like what I see.

Iliro Smit (Eastern Ranges)

Smit has rare traits for a 200cm talent, kicking some miraculous goals in the Talent League for Eastern Ranges and showing off his athleticism. The ruck-forward also showed promising signs in the Young Guns series. Smit, 18, missed a year and a half with injury, including his entire draft year in 2023. He has been interviewed by at least four clubs in the lead-up and, like his Ranges teammate Maclean, he is also part of Box Hill’s list. Interestingly, there is a website putting forward ‘Big Roo’ Smit’s case.
He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD!

Back to the Future!

Sounds like a name that would’ve rucked against Lazar Vidovic and Ilija Grgic in the 90’s.

Big Roo or the Flyin’ Dutchman?

Is still playing junior league as a top agent. Averaging about 6 kicks and 2 marks per game in the juniors. Lots of tap outs. Very much a recruit for the future, rather than now. We could have got teakle, but decided against thaty

He was part of Hawthorns NGA program, so I’m guessing the club has got in before the likelihood of Hawthorn selecting him in the 2024 ND.
Clearly the club didn’t blink and chose to select a project player rather than the quick ruck fix. Smits selection is another in a Collingwood trend that shows the clubs preference to invest in tall project players outside of the ND.
Teakle was still available when we picked Smit, so we couldn’t have been that red hot on Teakle as a band aid solution.
