Pies $1.25
Richmond $4

I think someone framing a market may be in trouble.

Well one thing is for sure this week, it’s going to be a big crowd for a small game. Not many seats left in the nosebleeds and we all might have one from continually hitting our head against a brick wall.

Hopefully something changes this week, hmm tactics, and the dam wall brakes and we kick a winning score. This could be the last game of the year where we stand some sort of a chance, well at least to half time anyway
Ed Allen kicked our last goal of the year at the 58minute mark

No guarantees we're winning this. Expecting this to be a close encounter.

Good chance Cox, McCreery and Schultz will all be returning. Wouldn't mind rewarding Bytel for his good VFL performance today.

With Krueger out, we must surely bring back Cox. Hopefully we get both McCreery and Schultz back as well.
To be honest, I don't know what to expect. We should smash Richmond, but after losing the past 4 games, I'm not sure our players have any self-belief left. The big problem is our poor performing midfield, particularly with JDG playing injured. We will need huge games from Pendles and Crisp, because it's too much to expect the Daicos boys to carry the load on their own.

IF, our guys have one ounce of pride left, conscience, soul searching, love of our Club, our fans, dignity, anger, fury, they will come out literally breathing fire, and destroy the Tigers. Defeat is not an option, this is victory or death literally. INS- Cox, McCreery, Shultz, Dean, OUT- Krooge (concussion), Marcov, Sidey (rested), maybe IQ. Woods by 47 points. It better be. !!

The modern generation of footballer prefers to high five mistakes and make up silly celebrations (NFL style) to celebrate goals. They will not come out breathing fire. They don't even know what that means. Those old days of motivational footy are over mate.

That's why coaching is even more important these days. You can't rev people up so it all comes down to strategy. That's why people are calling Sam Mitchell a budding genius.

The one advantage we've got in this game is that Adam Yze seems very likely to be a coaching muppet.

This is so on the money. We had our season on the line last week and we see silly little taps on the bum and high fives when somebody Fvcks up.
The rainbows and unicorns approach, through some weird miracle worked last year... not anymore. The thing is, we don't have an alternative.

I cleaned up big time backing the hawks to beat us by 40+ last week, I'll be looking for the same value option as we roll out yesterdays heroes again this weekend.
I don't think they can get us by over 40 ($23) but the 25+ at $10 is a very tempting option.

Whilst we mathematically make the finals I think we need to look to the future.

I would be dropping players who won't figure in 2025 like Markov.

And add some of our new younger recruits to the team. I'm not sure how many is too many to add in for a single game but here is a few to chose from:

Edward Allan
Finlay Macrae
Harry Demattia
Jakob Ryan
Tew Jiath
Josh Eyre
Jack Bytel
Harvey Harrison

Out: Kruger and De Goey (injured) and Sidebottom (rested), Sullivan

IN: Cox, McCreery, Schultz, Jiath

Would like to bring both of Krueger and De Goey back for the Carlton game (it will be disgraceful if Pendles 400th was a loss).

If we lose to the Tigers and/or Carlton, we are toast for 2024 and I would send any player out for immediate operations:
De Goey et al. Plus I would rest Mihocek, Howe and a number of others (on rotation) and play: Allan, Eyre, Demattia, Macrae to see what they offer.

Plenty of time for plenty of soul-searching before the end of the season.

Are we still in contention with judicious retirements and good trading for 2025?
What (apart from pace and excellent foot skills) needs to come into our mix for 2025?
How can we change our game style to best suit our list over summer?

This will be a true test of both our coaching panel and our List Management folks to see whether they have another flag in them or off they want to go into a rebuild?

I don't want Nick Daicos to wait 13 seasons between flags...
Firm in the belief that number 17 flag is only months away...

I honestly will throw up if I hear Fly say one more time that we're "constantly improving and are working to be the best versions of ourselves". In truth we are not constantly improving - in fact, this year we have been steadily worsening. I know he means well, but seriously, if I'm getting sick of hearing it I can only imagine how the players feel about it. There is way too much rhetoric and managerial jargon, which can certainly be useful and effective in the short term, but runs the risk of becoming meaningless, after you've heard it a thousand times.

This is not me having a crack at Fly, who, after all, is possibly the best coach we've ever had. However, even he has to learn, adapt and evolve. The messaging which worked well last year, may not be useful this year.
