It was the final VFL training session of the year tonight -- Bit bittersweet. Because we know how the VFL list turnsover year on year. You never know who will be back next year.

Brisbane are playing to consolidate a top 4 spot.

If past games are anything to go by, the Pies will be competitive for a bit then Brisbane will put the foot down and run away with it.

We gave them a run for their money early in the season up in brisbane
We should have about 13-14 listers playing. Looks like Eyre and Smit are right to play. Both got through today's session.

Hopefully they can put in a good performance but it will be a totally different team to last time.
Good to hear that Eyre and Smit are OK to play.

Christian Algeri, midfielder, plays for De La Salle in the VAFA.
Won De Las seniors B&F last year and selected in the VAFA Premier B rep side this year.

Isaiah Markovsky, small forward, plays for Oakleigh Chargers in the Coates Talent League.

Isaiah is 2nd cousins to Josh and Nick Daicos.
He plays forward yeah, but also can play in the midfield. He's tough, strong and makes players earn everything. Strong runner with pace, good around stoppages.

Thanks for the bio’s on the VFl newbies. Good for the VAFA. What happened to Sam Sofinidis this year? Injury and oblivion?

2nd cousin to a Daicos isn’t bad going. We’ll have to change his name if he’s any good though

No idea what happened to Sofronidis.
Had a foot injury early in the season, then nothing.

Can’t find anything on him playing anywhere else - thought he may have gone back to the Ammos & his old team, Collegians.

from what I know of sofronidis:

Played a couple games, then did a foot stress fracture injury. Was meant to be back in July. Last time I saw him at VFL training was I'd say a month ago. Had only done straight line running, but havent seen him since.
I'm assuming he has had a setback and wasn't able to get going for the rest of the year so they probably have him doing rehab inside.

VFL Pies 3.4 22 Lions 3.2 20

Good start from the pies first tap to Smit. Pies on top first half nice mark and goal to Kreuger, free in the square to Glover and a good set to Sullivan.

Pies lacked a bit of poise later giving up 3 goals on transition, from poor defensive punches and transition again right in the quarter time siren.

Sullivan and Macrae been busy. Allen needs to finish his disposals and we’d have 2 more goals. Crocker impersonating Ginnivan including the short white hair. Eyre needs to stop rushing, be patient and kick to free team mates instead of a contest.

Our new 3rd Daicos shaped more like Nick and got a 3minute run, a tackle a contest and right foot banana from the left pocket for a point. Rushed it he actually had more time to compose his kick. Looks like a smooth mover.

Reef McInnes has been best on ground at HB intercepting, strong tackles rewarded with frees, good kicks and handballs forward.

VFL pies 6.7 43 lions 5.6 36 at half time

The lions got the early jump but the pies fought back well and got lots of penetrating kicks and forward entries.

The 3rd Daicos got his first goal. Glover another and Smit another.

Dean Ryan Richards and Markov were good in the second quarter. Kreuger hobbled off with an ankle after a marking contest early but came back to ruck.

Well done VFl pies this is the best we’ve played in a while against good vfl opposition with the lions chasing a vfl top 4 spot
