India batted first. All out 46. The middle order failed to make runs - almost literally: 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8 all made ducks.

NZ is 1/115 in reply.

In AFL terms India’s 46 in the first innings is on par with Grundy’s performance in the GF against the Lions

Well done to the kiwis. (Yup, that's what they like calling themselves. Dunno why some folks fuss about this when the players and ex-players use that word all the time.)

The kiwis destroyed Flat-Track Bully Steve Smith's defective technique at home. (No wonder Matt Hayden said playing FTB as opener was "crazy".) But the India lineup is much better. Still not good, though. There's no batting lineup in the world that can handle swing.

But now it's Bumrah and co's turn...
