LOUDER

Post by Pies Premiers 2003 »

I sat near the back of the cheersquad last night and felt that as a group we could be louder......

Joffa did a great job as usual and boys at the back always echo some great chants....but the 200 odd people in the middle need to get on their feet and SCREAM THEIR LUNGS OUT!!!!!!

Everyones voice must be a bit rusty today or else you need to have a look at yourself and wonder.....can anyone actually hear me???

Having said that I couldn't hear richmonds cheersquad all night.....but lets not rest on that.......I say this week....everyone take a mental note or even write it on your hand...

YOU ARE COLLINGWOOD...BE LOUD AN PROUD :D
THE PIES GO MARCHING ON

absolutely mate. we'll keep on making noise up the back, but the people in the middle have gotta stop being shy. they shouldn't be afraid to STAND UP, even if someone behind you tells you to sit down. it's hard to make a lotta noise at the MCG, but we need to REALLY improve on last night's effort. during the second half it sounded better, but the first half was deathly quiet!

Well there are four chant leader in the cheersquad. Common sense would say that the four leaders should be spread around the cheersquad. Eg One in front, two in middle and one at the back. That way chanting would be spread right throughout the cheersquad. There is no point having the four leaders sitting near each other.

Im going to let it rip what im going to say isnt directed at any one person so dont whinge.

As you know over summer the cheersquad went through some pretty big changes and to be honest right at this minute the main focus with the cheersquad is to get it right, the friendliness is back, we have a new banner making crew, we have a welcomming commitee, we have a process in place to make sure the kids are treated well and fairly and we have many many new members and still have many more wanting to join.
We have deliberately placed friendly people involved at the hall on thursday nights to ensure that the shambles from last year will never appear again, its a brand new commitee and we are still learning to work with one another, this new committee is not in it for themselves we are in it to make sure the cheersquad is a better place for everyone. The front row system has now changed there will be no more crap we own the cheersquad because we sit in its front row every week.

We do have a number of chant people and that is my decision and it will work, but i tell you what doesnt work and thats abusing or getting into peoples faces when they dont chant, we had to much of that shit going on in previous years and its a sure fire way of getting to many people off side.

I have a message for the people who complain about the chanting get of your ass and lead a chant yourself but when you do so do it in a friendly and responsible way.

Flyers will be printed this week and distributed to all cheersquad members with a list of all the chants and a reminder to feel free to join in the chanting
actually i thought the cheersquad was excellent on friday night considering the shitter atmosphere the MCG now offers with the stand missing at one end.

The chants will happen..i think some people should give a little credit when due..the fact is we are allready the loudest cheersquad and visualy we are up there with the best..but more importantly the last 8 weeks our efforts have gone into what we regard as being more important at this moment and that is the welfare of the kids the friendliness of the cheersquad as a whole.
cheers

If you can't hear anyone chanting.....then start a chant yourself!....believe me others will join in!
When confronted by a mob of angry crows supporters 3 years ago at aami stadium, when they beat us by less than a goal after ben hart took a dive in our goal square with seconds to go......my initial reaction to the mob crowd was...I am a collingwood supporter! I will not let anyone intimidate me!.and with that I got up on the seat and started up our club song! Let me tell you that upset the Crow morans even more!

I was actually wondering who was sitting in front of me in the Cheersquad.
I thought they were a couple of statues.
They also complained when I waved the flag (after a goal).
I hope they will not be regulars, or if they will be then they should sit up the back and not interfere with our fun.

Next time you find the two statues sitting in front of you, try chanting very loudly in their ear. That should sort out whether they're for real or whether they're just using the Cheer Squad for cheap reserved seating.

It's amazing how passionate we can be when we're away from home, confronted by a mob of hostile interstaters.

For some reason, when we play in Melbourne, we get into a kind of "comfort zone". We get a bit complacent, knowing that we've got a lot more supporters than the opposition. We seem to think that sheer numbers will be enough, but it isn't. Fifty thousand theatregoers don't make very much noise.

I thought the cheer squad was good considering all the new faces....its takes a while to catch on to ALLLLLLL the chants.
I was chatting to my mates and thought it would be a great idea if we did the "Everywhere you GO" at half time or at least just before half time. Just saying this because when we do decide to do it, although it works, everyone is watching the game and as the ball comes closer down our end everyone gets side tracked a little.
And for all those newwys buy Joffa and the boys CD (you should write that on the bottom of the newsletter Joffa)
One last thing....the ANTHONY R O C C A chant went down like a led balloon, to many people have caught onto the Anthony bit and not the ROCCA!! It was good last year when Ben did it by himself  :D  :P

Also in relation to the Didak chant there was some confusion as to people not knowing the words which i found a bit strange.

All you have to say is "Didak".......lmao

I remember the cheer squad (well i dont know ya's but seen Joffa and a few of the other boys) walking through the back of AAMI stadium last year (Port game around round 9 i think), one of the guys started witht he GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD, realy loud and drawn out, until the others joined in. You should have seen the Power fans parting (like moses and his waters).

What a sight seeing the so called, "tough" power fans (pussy's as far as im concerned) runnig for cover.

Gotta luv a chant !

That was one of the best nights of our lives, we stormed footy park and mind you only about ten of us i think greg j, foxy and cant remember the rest JLC might of been there, them port supporters didnt know what hit them it was beautiful. as soon as we arrived we started the chants whilst walking to the other end goals the noise was stunning.

When we go back to adelaide this year we will do another one and get more people involved.
