Why have the run thru suggestions closed?

Post by annewilo »

I think one thing that a lot of ppl r forgeting. The game is there to be enjoyed. No one person or group is bigger than the game. No one person should be made to feel less of a supporter than the other. No one should feel uncomfortable going to the football and worrying about what ppl around them are saying.Think that there is some joining of hands needed in this room. Now, can we please see some stuff that resembles humanity and good will to fellow men/women. There is enough death and despair going on in the bigger world. Lets concentrate on talking football, rather than acusations in this forum. This message is not a dig at anyone in particular but just the general tone that seems to be creeping in here.

Yes racism is awful. And yes, when I was in the cheer squad, we were always acused of doing something wrong. But with Sergeant Major glaring at you if you just dipped one toe outside the seating aisle, you never dared put a foot wrong. 9 times out of 10 the cheer squad were blamed for the racism. When all the poo hit the fan back in the 90's over this, we were targeted, when it was actually bitter old social club members who didnt know any better. Racism is awful and we all try in this world to do a lot to stamp it out, but you are never going to change the opinions of twisted old biggots.

But dont ever stop someone having the right to an opinion either. Just choose your forum carefully. Take it up with the apt committee members and they will stamp it out there and then.

And as for this person acused of stealing, take it elsewhere. Acusations of this nature should not be discussed in here, as far as I am concerned. I was acused when I was on the c/s of saying something about someone else. Ppl then spread this untruth around. But I had never said it in the first place. They were lying. I was so upset at the time, but no one gave a damn. I was guilty before I could even state my side of events. But fortunately now those ppl arent involved in the group and I think the cheer squad have a great chance to grow stronger again with the new ppl. But with titles like "Racism in the Cheer Squad" , "I or my family are not thieves", "Treated like crap by the club" and "Announcement-Run Thru suggestions closed", the cheer squad could well implode, again!!
Take your situation back to where it should remain.Within the committee. Its unfair to both sides to air your dirty washing in here.

And for heavens sake. Why cant ppl make run thru suggestions anymore? What is wrong with this? What have the two situations got to do with each other? If you are moderating the room, then take off offensive suggestions but dont stop kids and adults having the opportunity to feel involved just because some one says that the c/s is racist, when its not.

Gosh, I feel exhausted. But really ppl, this is about having fun, and in this room, their isnt much of that happening at the moment.
I think you guys do a great job in the c/s. Up late at night, several nights a week. Trying to please everyone, and usually no thanks at the end. Packing up equip, after a rainy days loss, then back to do it all again. But its there to be done for one thing only. To support your players. For them to see those words when they run thru that banner. Thats what its all about.

You wanna read about real rubbish and hatred etc

go and read big footy and the blue view. The Hatred displayed there is much worse than any silly song that we may sing. Threats of physical violence against collingwood supporters etc etc

that will put things in perspective for you.

Rubbish and hatred unfortunately are not limited to just Carlton and other supporters. I am sorry that you have taken my comments that way. Racism cannot be gauged on degrees, you either are racist or not, there is no middle ground. These days, we now accept that calling someone a dago or a [snip], is a racist slur. But when I was young ( and that was a long time ago) we considered it to be normal. When I was young I thought there was a country called [snip]!! How things have changed.
As I said, I was merely commenting on the messages that were being posted in here of late.I am not saying we are full of hatred but just get on with having a goddam good time instead of hacking at each other.

What are your thoughts about cancelling the run thru ideas in here? From what I can see, they have gone on for a long time. Do you know the reason they were stopped?
