tonights banner changed by afl?
couldnt see a thread re this so hope im not repeating someone else.
how true is it that the banner for tonights game has had to be changed? something about ed having written the slogan himself that mentioned either the game getting a live broadcast in brissy and/or the salary cap issue? i hear it was reported on in brissy and melb but we dont get such reports here. flimsy info i heard is the afl have forced the banner to be changed. i wish ed would keep his crusade off the field. apologies or course, if this is wrong.

Eddie on 3AW now talking to Hinch.
He is really p'd off.
Collingwood were threatened with a $20,000 fine if we have this message on our Runthru.
The AFL Lions
With salaries to spare
Fix 'em up Pies
Make 'em look like Bears
Eddie said he was just carrying on the theme as reported in the press this week.
Now the banner will be blank on one side.

The AFL are a pack of cantankerous morons.
What they don't realise is, if they said nothing, no attention would've been bought to it.
If it was a battle, Eddie has won. The AFL has now mangaged to shine more light on their concessions than Eddie and all the Presidents together.
They deserve all the flack they get. If it is such a non-issue, what does it matter what goes on the banner?

The slogan suggested by Rowdy26 was an absolute ripper and should have been there.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

its a bit weird, because originally before i submitted my banner idea, i came up with one about the salary cap but thought it would be better used at the Sydney match with the whole Richard Colless issue thing and everything from last year where he gave the bird on national tv. So i submitted the other instead.
However the Sydney version I created and was waiting to post later in the season is as follows:
***
See the Swans Dive Down
Today's Admission Prices:
Adults: $21.50
Concession: $600,000
***
(note, the Brisbane version was pretty similar from memory, just a different first line. Also I put $600,000 as i think this was how much they are getting, but it would need checking).
...at least with this version the AFL couldnt say the main issue they were concerned about was mentioning "Bears" which was no longer appropriate, something the AFL seem to be basing their defence of why the banner was innapropriate from the media articles I've read.
However, I'm also just wondering why so many other fantastic banner ideas put forward here by other people last year never made it onto the banner and instead sometimes we had some fairly mundane, rather uninspiring things put up instead. Where does the club pull the ideas from when they dont use those submitted by the cheersquad?

Can I just say that all the members of the cheer squad who were involved with all of this did an excellent job under the circumstances and should be congratulated for their dedication and loyalty through this whole debarcle..the AFL should be ashamed of thmeselves for the decisions that were made and in the coming days will be exposed for continuing to steralize this great game....
Cheers
