Gee Peter Matera, eh?
One of the few opposition layers I used to love watching, except for when we faced him of course. Geez I used to wish he played for us.
Gonna watch the kid for the resemblance now. Might satisfy a long-held wish |
Peter Matera only had a right foot like Diego Maradona only had a left foot. Sometimes it just doesn't matter that players are "limited". |
Anyone that attended the Weagles/Geelong GF when Matera absolutely tore Geelong to pieces will recall that with each step he took he was further away from his opponents. He needed a left foot less than Geelong needed a motorcycle to catch him. If Stephenson reaches that level I won’t be complaining. |

Good comparison.
After checking out some old Andrew McLeod highlights on YouTube, I can see some similarities. |
It’s funny I was watching some old games and thought he resembled him a fair bit. I knew he reminded me of someone but I couldn’t put my finger on it. _________________ Collingwood forever, forever Collingwood |

In my absentmindedness, I left out his lack of marking power. His highlights feature more right-foot bananas than marks. |

Divine, some say.
And, also, Diego's an ambidextrous watch-wearer, so he's on a higher plane.

He got 21 disposals and 2 goals tonite.
Good effort.
I thought his kicking was a little off , in particular in the 2nd quarter.
Liked his celebration after kicking the sealer.
Pasionate lad. |

This evening, he was in the absolute right place at the right time, well clear of his opponent. Beautiful to see and speaks volumes of the talent he possesses. |

Great to see him kick the sealer. The best thing about it was that, for a young player, he was still running hard at the end of his third game in 11 days. _________________ Well done boys! |

He'll tire out, naturally, before season's end but he's definitely the most exciting young recruit we've had in a while. He'll turn games before long. _________________ Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood. |

Exactly my thoughts. To be running that hard in the last minute of the game as a first year player having played 3 games in 11 days.
Wow.
Number 1 draft pick in the same game who I think will be a gun however Stephenson has talents that are very hard to come by. _________________ "Even when Im old and gray, I wont be able to play but Ill still love the game"
