Hurricanes 2/128 after 14 overs.
Wade 80* (46).
In the background and looking not far from the arena, bushfire flames. Somewhat surreal. _________________ Donny.

Hurricanes heading for defeat. Their bowling has been ineffective (now and against the Sixers).
A little bit goes their way, but it shouldn't be enough:
First, a legside ball not far from being off the pitch but not called wide.
Then, next over, a wicket. Video replay to see whether it was a bump ball. Ponting says the tell-tale sign is whether it spins backwards (no ground) or forwards (ground). |

How has Weatherald gone in longer forms of the game?
Seems consistently impressive in this form. |

I think the ump thought Carey hit it. When Cleary walked up and queried the call, the ump gave a very quick reply. Something like, "You hit it, mate". _________________ Donny.

Thanks, guys. And T20s: Ave. 24.53, SR 124.11. (Actually a bad T20 run before this game: 7, 3, 4, 4, going back in time.) Falls a little short by the Ponting Criterion (Ave.+SR >160). |

M. Knox:
"Not without reason has the BBL been symbolically adopted by The Grade Cricketer crew as their own: dolled-up grade cricket."
"Kevin Pietersen has accused the BBL of greed, which is a little like hearing a lecture from someone who perhaps ought not to have been allowed onto the school grounds, but on the actual point, condensed to 140 characters, Pietersen is on the money."
"... James Sutherland ... came out this week endorsing his own decision ..."
Knox also calls the NFL the world's "most professionally run" competition... Hmm... Does Knox know or care about -- let's see -- suppression of info on brain damage to players, other health problems of retired players (obesity, etc.), racial politics, unfortunately questionable ethics of a great franchise (on ball tampering, why the heck does the NFL allow teams to supply their own balls?), etc.? The NBA, for example, doesn't have any of those problems, does it?

Renshaw smokes a straight drive for 6. Celebrates.
Next ball, clean bowled by a yorker!
Lynn still at the crease.
And game is done and dusted. |
