My brother said that collingwood should just cull the players who are always getting injured and just go with players who have some reliability.
We have carried reid for years and he continues to break down.
So under my brothers wishes.
Then we should clear out elliot, langdon, wells sooner than this year.
Probably Howe The berg, sier and maybe moore.
Probably a few others there.
We have these long long injury lists year after year.
It seems a minority of players are filling the injury list the majority of times.
You may need to be ruthless but we cant spend every year with a hospital full list of injured players.
Some players seem to get rarely injured where others spend the majority of their time on that dreaded list. |

Wells is already on the way out, and he changed his contract conditions in favour of the club.
Reid deserves respect, and he'll be gone at the end of the year regardless.
Elliott only got a one year contract, so the writing's already on the wall for him.
Cutting Howe, Langdon, Sier and maybe Moore... that is ludicrous. Howe's got a few more years left in him, and Moore currently isn't injured so that makes no sense. Sier got concussed, so cutting him makes no sense either.
Almost every other club has a bunch of injured players out for weeks and sometimes months. That's footy.
The only ones I agree with are Wells, Reid, and Elliott -- but it's clear by their contracts (and Reid is uncontracted) that they're already in the last chance saloon and most likely won't be at the club next year anyway.
Let's not get carried away after one bad loss and start a rebuild. |

Wow, ok Reid and Elliott I possibly agree. Wells, yes is done.
Langdon (When fit) is almost your first pick defender...we just re-signed him....you must be having a laugh.
Sharenberg has just got back playing....so if he gets through the remainder of the season un-injured ..The club shows him the door because he was injured previously??? I struggling to understand.
Moore is also playing ...see above ...logic???
Howe ...very rarely injured by Collingwood standards and remains a very good player when fit...give the guy a break it is not like he has missed whole seasons.
Sier is what, 21? Looks like he could be a very good player...dump him too?
I have a honest question, are you a Calrton supporter? _________________ "To know nothing of events before your birth, is to forever remain a child" - Cicero (Roman Lawyer/Senator) 46 BCE. |

I'd agree on Wells and it is unknown how he managed to stay on the list this year, will have a good career as a con man once his footy career ends, although with the peanuts at Collingwood, he'll probably clog up the list for another 10 years |

We have player awaiting their fitness levels to get them back on the park
I do have heart in mouth when they do due to repeated regression of injuries _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Lol. With our injury lists over the years, we'd be lucky to have 22 players left on the list if we delisted our injured player.
More seriously. Reid, Wells, Elliott are all on smaller contracts. So no real harm done, other than our frustration of not having them on the park. Noting Reid has played plenty of vfl and afl this year.
They are class players when on the park. So the upside is always a carrot. |

Mate we need to calm down a bit
Injuries happen to all teams and yes we seem to get the longer term ones more often
As for the culling
Elliott's 1 year deal I think is for that reason he may struggle to get a new deal if he doesn't play a lot from now until our season ends
The club new taking on Langdon came with risks with his knee history. We got him cheap after Sydney didn't make him a offer (apparently on his medical history) and his deal is 2 years with a 1 year option in the clubs favour. We still have no official word from the club but the rumour has been strong since he went out he needs to go under the knife so his 2019 would be over and a fair chunk of 2020 as well if we keep delaying the operation
Reid has been a loyal servant but his time may have well come.
Wells is gone seasons end
Howe has played a lot of footy and hardly get injured
Seir is young and has taken time to grow into his body like many big kids do
Scharenberg might be on last chance saloon if he goes down again with a knee. I think we signed him for 3 years last year so he would have 2 more to go after this one
Lets see how the remainder of the year pans out before retiring everyone with a injury |

No way we let Elliott go just not worth it he is a gun when fit, and in a trade due to years of injurys we would get bupkiss.
Reid and Wells will retire most likely so there is 2 gone.
Langdon had an impact injury.
Moore seems to have stabilised and you dont just rid your list of elite talents.
Seir will be fine. Ditto Howe.
Schaz prob if he does another knee it will career over.
Broomhead already demoted to rookie list so on would gather on his last chance. _________________ Up the Mighty Mags 2016. |

I think most people here are missing my brothersmain point.
It ia about a strategy or tactic.
It is like Hawthorn who for a few decades now
seem to never draft big young ruckmen , prefering to pick guys
who have been at least 5 years in the system.
Why waste 5 years developing a ruckman when you can pinch one.
Take for example the berg ....3 knee reco's.
Back playing now so under my brothers tactic...trade him at
the end of the year.
It must be a greater chance him going down again
compared to another.
We have had a bucket load of injuries for years.
The question is ...is it bad lack, poor player management,
or do we keep injury prone players too long.
?
To be the best you need to be savvy.
People talked about the beams trade.
Was the recruitment a strategy or just an opportunity? |

The notion has merit. Life certainties are:
1. Death
2. taxes
And:
* Reid shall do an annual calf or two: tick
* Elliott: shall do a minor hamstring injury that ends up 7+ weeks: tick
* Adams: shall do a lower leg injury: tick
* Moore: hamstring injury: tick
* Wells: shall comeback and then get injured: tick
* Sier: shall struggle in pre-season and take weeks to get on park: tick
We really are a cliché _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum

It's hard to get rid of players you have, even if you're sure that's the right thing to do, but it should be easy to stop yourself trading or drafting in new injury-prone players. Our club may have some sort of addiction to doing that, like a gambling addiction.
Our current injury-prone players don't have any trade value. They'd get us at best what the Fasolo free agency got us. |

Disagree about Elliott. Think it is time to seriously consider whether worth keeping him or trading and getting some value. He just doesnt play enough. No good having a gun player who sits 7/8 weeks + on the bench every year. Love him as a player but have to make a tough decision and i say we get some trade value for him. Reid is at end of use by date and Wells well he is another we are paying a lot of money for 'hope'. He should be de-listed this year im sorry, failed experiment, played a few good games here and there but 1 game every 4-5 weeks aint good enough for an AFL side. |

Elliott is a free agent out of contract at the end of this year - how are you going to trade him?
Wells is in the last year of a 3 year contract which he voluntarily changed last year to be based on a base salary plus match payments ie no play, no pay
Reid is on a 1-year contact _________________ https://forever.collingwoodfc.com.au/sav-sinks-the-dockers/ |
