It would be good if other Nicksters could tell why we should keep Bucks.
I haven't made up my mind about Bucks!

Last year, when we were 8 & 3,injuries,bucketloads of them and suspensions, saw our entire backline, that's all 6 PLUS a seventh, who would have usually been a replacement backman, not play for most of the second half of the year, leaving Keefe and Frost as our key backs and rookies as the flankers.
This year,at 8 & 3 we have seen the same fate, but in reverse. This time ,after losing a couple of close ones,we had ,basically, our ENTIRE forward line out injured.Cloke ,Reid,Elliot,Goldsack and Oxley, throw in Broomhead out injured and the horror story continues. The injury to Levi Greenwood, who was firing, hurt our mid field more than we are giving credit to and Ramsay was a significant loss as he was blitzing them on half back. The fact that Reid was out left Frost to be CHB and although he has done a reasonable job,his last few weeks have been bad. He seems totally lost and his ability to actually take possession and go FORWARD rather than handball backward for no particular reason, adds to my theory he has a lot to learn and is not the answer as a KPB.
No team can carry these injuries ,most whinge when they have ONE player out, yet we keep going with kids, they DO get lost and tired at times and stray from the game plan.
No one can deny that when we are ON we are an exciting unit and if anyone cares to return to the posts of the front half of the season it was ALL about excitement and the great brand of footy we are playing. The elephant in the room is ,for me at least, our disposal and kicking for goal. It's deplorable and pathetic and how we address this is anyones guess, but fix itt we MUST.
As far as Buckley goes and with what I have said here,I think he will be coaching this outfit for a LONG and successful period.I hope this is the case.
GO PIES!!!!

Some of the stuff on here is terrible. Mickey Gaffer has a medal, does this make him a better player than Buckley?

Buckley has won a brownlow, norm smith, 6 copeland trophies, played 260 games & was captain for 8 seasons , show some respect people.

Not since the Shaw era have we missed 3 consecutive years of finals.

Bucks can't expect to keep his job if we miss finals next year IMO.

I agree,Monk. Some of the things that have been said here are way below the belt, and unnecessarily personal.

Only you are losing sleep about having lost these guys - and conveniently ignore age, and indiscretion or greed as the reasons they left.

And yes these guys are unhappy because Bucks played hard ball - and that's great for the club because we are regenerating with the picks or cap space with these departures.

Well said, monk. Really disgraceful stuff that would seem extreme on a carlton board.

Looks like ol Carringbush, by his inane rants, is stuffing his stogies chock full of the old happy tabacca, the old weed. His old mate Jock smoked some hash, and look how he ended up. Shocked Razz

I have a lot of time for Bucks, but we really must make the finals next season under him, no iffs or butts. If we dont, i say he moves on and we go for Bomber Thompson, if unavaialble, then scotty burns comes in.

Stick with Bucks and have a look at the position this time next year.
It has been frustrating to lose all those games in the last two months but at least we have matched it with the top sides. Better than the last couple of year. Looking for improvement in results in the big games next year and optimistic that it will come.

So what's the point of matching it with the top sides then getting beaten by the shit sides?

Is that saying that Buckley can't coach a winning team, only one who can compete against better opposition? The performances since the bye have been absolutely disgraceful and even the 1 win was hardly worth celebrating given how badly Carlton get beaten by everyone else!

Its clear this club is going nowhere under Buckley and its better to make a change when there is still some upside rather than wait another couple of years, then have to completely rebuild because we have no top level senior players left anymore...

The last two seasons have been all about a rebuild.

If we use your logic Eddie boy, then if Buckley needs to be moved on due to missing finals the last two seasons, then Travis Cloke should be delisted as he has been worse than useless for the last three seasons.

You don't like or agree with that, do you?

Neither do I. But based on your logic, if one is fair, then so is the other.

The perennially jealous underachievers in life (of which there are a number on this board) are always jealous of high achievers in life.

It is a constant reminder of their worthless existence.

I don't blame them being miserable and jealous towards Bucks, but they should at least be open about their reasons.

Ultimately, none of those let go by Buckley (with the exception of Beams) has played better football at their new club than what they did in their peak at the Pies.

Wellers is playing better this year, but Wellers netted us Grundy thank you very much.

Dawes netted us Broomhead - I am happy with that.

Shaw got us Adams. That was much needed.

Lamumba got us Varcoe - simply brilliant.

Beams (a sad loss) - but we got De Goey, Crisp and Greenwood. Stupendous trading in a bad situation.

Thomas has been useless at the Blooz - and we parlayed the compo pick to get Scharenberg who will be a star.

Didak, Ball and Jolly were finished.

I am excited that we have managed to largely rebuild our list without bottoming out.

I seem to remember 2004/05 we were bottom feeding and in 2004, all we had to show for our suffering was Chris Egan!

We are on the path to glory brothers and sisters. 2017/18 will be our time.
