Classic game where we should have put them away early. Dominated but failed to put it on the scoreboard.

Despite dominating early, thought we were fumbly and indecisive at times which kept them in it.

Only positive was Moores return.

Second half we got smashed.

Guess we were getting ahead of ourselves, so hopefully the reality check we had to have.

We were due-
compounding injuries, fatigue, etc.

Pendles and Sidey were ineffective- Pendles got a bit but butchered it worse than I've ever seen- too many (cute) handballs. Sidey kncakered last week- clearly the long season is taking its toll.

Crocker had a Benny Crocker.
Greenwood should only be brought in against Cats to tag Selwood.
Varcoe was soft- shirked contests and made horrible, horrible decisions.

Howe is becoming too reliable at giving away 2-3 horrendous clangers a game.

Daicos needs a rest

WHE clearly underdone

Crisp- no run- was shut down but was OK

Grundy- struggled - was pretty sure I didnt see him take a mark all day (just checked stats and a big donut!)

Maynard, Shaz,Langdon and Mayne were OK

Positives:
Sier looked good until injured
Darcy was fantastic- if all palyers played with his desperation would have won comfortably.
JDG and JT only fwd/mids that looked likely
Mihocek- strong 4 quarter performance- kept presenting and contesting.
Phillips had a better game after afew quiet weeks

Just over 40 tackles in a game and 80 clangers- yep 80!!! Those stats dont win footy games

Disappointed to lose, but it's not the end of the world.

We've failed our first real test, but we'll regroup and go again next week against North.

I still remain upbeat at this stage about our season overall.

I’d say QB was our first real test. As was last week to en extent.

It something’s gotta give. Close to full strength WC vs our B side. We did OK considering.

Still well off it.

I think our most impressive wins have come against the Crows (rd 4), Dees (rd 12) and Dons (rd 16).

Today was a letdown, but I think a combination of factors/reasons can explain the defeat. Hopefully we can reset and get ourselves up for North, which is another challenge for the playing group.

WC Arseholes. (Sorry Mods)
I am trying to put a positive spin on it but the bourbon bottle is looking a little emptier.
Ive said it before and many here dont quite believe it could be possible but I actually despise West Coast more than Carlton.

Have Wet Toast proven today, that they are over their MCG Hoodoo ?? And if they are, should the Tigers be a tad concerned about that ???? Confused Question

To put it in perspective, we had Cox, Dunn, Treloar and Wells suit up ba Melbourne. Full back, CHF, fastest midfielder, and silk outside player.

We trot out that same squad and things look rosier.

Unfortunately, we won’t get that squad back, which sucks, cos this season is there for the damn taking.
If we can finish Top 6, while bringing back Moore, Elliott, Aish, maybe Fasolo, and who knows, even Treloar, we can still shock the league.

But with North, Richmond and @ Sydney to come, we may well be shot before we get the chance. Next week is a must win, otherwise we’re staring down the barrel of a 4 game losing streak, with our nemesis Port to come, a rejuvenated Lions at Etihad (gross), and the suddenly tricky Freo away.

Just watching now, we could easily have been up by six goals seven minutes in.

And that was before WHE dropped a sitter in the goalsquare and Kennedy was paid Howe’s Mark (and goaled).

- Cox out was a big loss to our structures against the best 1-2 combo of intercept defenders in McGovern and Hurn. He was still at the club at 7.30pm on Thursday and not watching the VFL Intra-club, suggesting he was rehabbing. I should have picked that!

Didn't work hard enough today. Eagles were good. Their pressure and perceived pressure caused lots of turnovers.

Got found out with our bottom 6 or so.
- Someone said that Varcoe wasn't as putrid as others made out. Well what game were you watching? He was a disaster other than putting one to the hot spot that we scored from.
- Greenwood can't kick. Does tackle, but a poor kick for sure.
- Crocker we've always known he is not AFL standard
- Daicos, people talk about his pressure, but seriously, he doesn't get the pill enough to warrant a spot

I thought Moore was great today. A big tick there. The main win from today.
He should be a good match up for Ben Brown. Reckon Cox should be back next week too, which will help us considerably.

Seems a fair summary A P.

Plus Sidey needs to learn to beat a hard tag ( Hutchings )

Oh and if we play them again, we need to play a SMART FIT player on McGovern and draw him away from the scoring corridor. He destroyed us.

Our side look buggered for most of the day.

We played poorly, we can and will play much better. We are 3rd. This is good. Go Pies!
