Guys, its over. Move on.

There's a once in a generation health crisis, with thousands of people dying across the world.

Stock up on books or a music instrument, coz we're all gonna be locked in our homes for some time.*

I agree except this isn't once in a generation, it's once in a century

Historically maybe. This century, probably not

Season should start Thursday night and Richmond should be forced to unfurl there flag to a empty stadium it would be quite fitting really
It’s tradition it’s done the first home game of the previous years premiere and should never change
Once that’s done and there left gutted by the feeling call the competition off for a month and hope this passes and we can resume with a 17 round season

They're still arguing over money. F***ing $$$$. AFLPA/players refuse a shortened season and pay cut.

You know what? Cancel the season. If they're that goddamn selfish, I don't want to know footy anymore.

I think that the season will begin this week and will save the cancellations as the numbers increase.
Look people, this virus is here. It's not about stopping it, its about controlling and delaying it so it doesn't exceed our hospitals capacity and protecting/isolating the most vulnerable.

Regarding the AFL:

a) ban the crowds - there is no need to be there live when we have such a good broadcast capacity.

b) AFL football players are the best placed people I can think of to have a handle on this virus. They have medicos on hand. They are fit people and if they are any sort of a competent club, have experience in dealing with flu outbreaks and quarantine procedures.
Take a breath and realize its less likely for a player to play if he's unwell from coronavirus.

I agree with what you are saying. But the flip side is that the AFL (like it or not) is a community leader (eg: Racism, Sexism, etc, etc) . So if they play, what example is it setting for the rest of the community? Particularly when just about every other code/sport is suspending play.

It says, its ok for the rest of the community/sports to be inconvenienced by isolation, distancing, or gathering restrictions, but we are an exception.

Others may use this as an example to not follow the Gov't guidelines.

On this basis, I think they should suspend the season.

agreed - which it why we will see games cancelled no doubt.
For mine - I think banning the crowds is enough - but it won't be. ('Confused')

I posted an article earlier that basically says the AFL only chooses to be "leaders" against racism and sexism when it suits their image. It's virtue signalling. They only care about $$$ and couldn't give a rat's about what footy means to the rest of us.

My bet that round 1 will be cancelled at least and each round will on a week to week basis.
