Nice swoop but no way that will happen. The Don of Essendon will see to it that no one wins if they don’t come out very much on top.

Okay how about this for thinking out side of the box -

Treloar and Stephenson to Melb (plus whatever swap combo's of picks there of and possibly Phillips or Cox)

Petracca to Collingwood (plus whatever swap combo's of picks there of and possibly McDonald)

PS: plus we accept to pick up the tab on some of Treloar's cap cost.?

PPS: Imagine now how good Petracca would look wearing a pies jumper.......

To me, this is a massive lose to Essendon. They lose three highish first round picks, with minimal return.

The problem is that people tend to run out of puff in a marathon😢 it’s probably only me but without any viable information I have lost all confidence in Collingwood getting any deal done, or even if they actually want to☹️

Can’t see they wouldn’t want to improve their list and think we are all on here wanting action

Our history of almost there but not quite there is in our minds—I’m the most impatient person I know and I am anxious to know —it’s a tad nerve racking

Lazza it was the same last year I think. We got Darcy Cameron then went to NAB draft

A three way trade involving Collingwood, Essendon and the Western Bulldogs that sees Treloar land at the dogs and Dunkley at Essendon appears our best way forward at this stage.

Collingwood in: Pick 6 (Essendon), Pick 7 (Essendon)

Essendon in: Dunkley, Pick 14 (Western Bulldogs), Pick 16 (Collingwood)

Western Bulldogs in: Treloar, Pick 39 (Collingwood), 2021 1st round selection (Essendon)

Collingwood gain: pick 6, pick 7
Collingwood lose: Treloar, pick 16, pick 39

Essendon gain: Dunkley, pick 14, pick 16
Essendon lose: pick 6, pick 7, 2021 1st round selection

Western Bulldogs gain: Treloar, pick 39, 2021 1st round selection
Western Bulldogs lose: pick 14, Dunkley

The Bulldogs effectively trade pick 14 for Treloar and receive one 1st and one 2nd round selection for Dunkley.

The Bombers claim Dunkley for a future 1st round selection and the downgrading of two others this season.

The Pies trade Treloar for pick 6 and upgrade our existing 1st round selection for a pick inside the top 10 for the cost of a 2nd round selection.

Might be one of the fairest and most balanced trades I've seen

The biggest question mark I have about our decision to put Phillips up for trade is did we give him enough or any opportunity this season on the wing?

Sure Daicos might have staked his claim to one wing position but there is another one available and the question needs to be raised did that player/s produce a greater return than Phillips did at his peak during the 2018 and 19 seasons?

To be honest who besides Daicos was our mainstay on the wing this year anyway because I didn't take enough notice?

Was it Sidebottom or various midfielders, Hoskin-Elliott, Mayne?

If it was Hoskin-Elliott then his 10.83 average disposals was a piss poor return and miles below the numbers Phillips produced in 2018/29.

If it was Mayne his average disposal number was below even that of Phillips this season and IMO he to suffered a loss in form and at 32 the end is nigh.

I'm comfortable letting Phillips go if it provides much needed salary cap relief but as of right now I only see Sidebottom and if his form holds Daicos being meaningful upgrades over Phillips on a wing who despite his flaws has shown the capacity to be a big accumulator who covers a lot of ground to provide his teammates with an option.

Maybe cutting losses with Phillips on the basis that Jay Rantall or Trent Bianco can step up next season into the role.
You are correct - apart from Daicos the other wing was a rotation of Steele, Mayne, T Brown, Noble, Crisp - whoever else.

Would like to see one of the new kids get a crack at it.

Could be usual bilge but Cal Twomey mentions Hawks are interested in Flip

To me, this is a massive lose to Essendon. They lose three highish first round picks, with minimal return.

We traded pick 7 and a future first (pick 7) for the return of Treloar and a 2nd round selection.

Essendon are parting with 1 future 1st round selection and the downgrading of two others but they still do retain two end of 1st round selections.

Yes I do agree Essendon are giving up a bit more than the other two clubs but they are also the team trying to pry away a player with 2 years remaining on their contract and a player the Bulldogs ideally want to retain. This comes at a price and with the Bulldogs not able to profit from 2020 1st round picks straight up owing to the very early bid expected of their NGA player I believe Treloar making his way to the Dogs might be the only hope for the Bombers securing Dunkley as I doubt Essendon would offer up any player of equal quality. This comes at a price also.

Of course they could give up on Dunkley entirely and simply make a play for Treloar which would see the overall trade cost to them reduce or if as you suggest the deal is to rich for Essendon it could be done without Essendon having to part with both picks 6 and 7.

In that scenario we would receive either pick 6 or 7, it would then be in our best interests to exchange our future 1st for pick 14 from the Bulldogs whilst also retaining our pick 16. Our pick 39 should also then be off the table with Essendon having to satisfy the Bulldogs with any further selections otherwise they would have effectively secured Dunkley for the cost of pick 6 or 7 which without the addition of Treloar the Bulldogs would reject.
