Most WWE fans were wondering how the WWE were going to handle the two wrestlers portraying Russians against America angle, well today at the PPV we found out. http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/tv/wwe-stars-rusev-and-lana-criticised-for-referencing-mh17-during-televised-show/story-e6frfmyi-1226996155206

When the London bombings happened the WWE dumped Muhammad Hassan's gimmick, it was expected that they'd have done the same with these two, Rusev is actually from Bulgaria, worked as such on NXT before becoming a Russian character, Lana is from the United States.

WWE has come under fire with their referencing of Vladimir Putin in the last few months, seems now they're getting more heat.

WWE being tasteless — who would have thought? Mr. Green

That'd be the VPT, where the same people are always right, just ask them (or dare to differ in opinion Wink ) and you'll get the most perfectly; paragraphed, punctuated and accurate response you just can't resist.

Sorry Proto but I can't believe adults watch wrestling.

What's the appeal, it's so damn fake?

I'd rather watch real mindless violence like the UFC.

Wasting your breath, seems the thread is it's own race - who can read the most boring political propaganda the fastest, or another way of putting it, "I'm smarter than you"

And this is why innocent people will keep dying

You're right TP, quoting Jimi Hendrix is a much better way of stopping innocent people dying than trying to understand why events occur. You might find it 'boring' but others don't.

After the hit they took on the Stock Market and beating they've taken in the media, you'd have thought this time they'd have thought against doing it. Or maybe they should have just read the beating Jason Biggs got for his joke on Twitter, maybe they'd have realised that the fallout wasn't going to be worth it.

A lot of adults watch it, since the violence and storylines wouldn't really be kid friendly even though they've tried to aim it more at families. I don't watch it as much as I did when I was younger, I just saw the news article pop up and decided to post it as it pertained to this thread.

Not the first time something like this has happened:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_Air_Flight_655

Something to keep in mind if war hawks like Abbott get too carried away.

Well, the wrestling is fun, the story lines are like soapies, the wrestlers themselves have to be very skillful and of course, there's always https://www.google.com.au/search?q=wwe+divas&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=ob_MU66SFNDe8AW_5YCgDg&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=1280&bih=899

If you really wanted to get into a debate about professional wrestling I'd suggest this documentary called Beyond The Mat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08OzKr-JytI or Hitman Hart Wrestling With Shadows here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOJcFns1IMA

I raised the article more because of the storyline involving two 'Russians' that have drawn criticism from the media because of the whole use of Vladimir Putin, and the praise about him, and then the use of the disaster during the promo during the PPV this morning.

Adding that there was talk that they would drop it like they did with Hassan back in 2005 due to the London Bombings, it was quite surprising (though half expected) that they ran with the mention this time around after the major beatings they've gotten in the press lately.

Added to that the failure of the WWE Network, plus the massive 100 million dollar loss over one weekend on the Stock Market, I'd expected the WWE to not want to 'rock the boat' as it were.

After Proto's contribution, I changed my mind. I now agree with Think Positive.

That'd be the VPT, where the same people are always right, just ask them (or dare to differ in opinion Wink ) and you'll get the most perfectly; paragraphed, punctuated and accurate response you just can't resist.

Yea it’s a waste of time posting here. If you have a different opinion to the 3-4 that make up the majority of the posts you get run out of town. It’s their way or the highway. It’s kind of hypocritical when they mouth of about equality and social justice and then ridicule and belittle anyone who has a different opinion to them.

Why don't post a few examples of your complaint in a new thread and explain what you thought other people should have posted in reply to you?

You could even propose a new rule or two to improve the situation.
