Thomas needed to just scrub the ball forward as far as he could with a kick.

Or just immediately handball in front of him and get a stoppage.

Stephenson is to blame for that last goal.

Had the perfect opportunity to lay a tackle within our forward 50 but didn't extend himself in the early part of the chase.

Does my head in when our forwards do that as it happens all to often.

Wasted multiple opportunities that quarter to bury them because of dumb disposal going inside f50.

Essendon now back in the game.

Did Stevo not extend himself? I just don't think he can make that chase, effectively - based on what I've seen from him week in, week out. For a guy who looks incredibly fast when he has the ball, he does seem to struggle to lay a defensive tackle in close. My perception is that, for all of his pace once he is going, he is reasonably slow in a straight line off the mark. He seldom runs anyone down when they first get the ball and try to break (he may have done so but I honestly cannot remember it). He's very good with his handling and very evasive with change of direction when he gets the ball in close but that's not the same thing as being ultra-quick over the ground off the mark. Compare him with, say, Krak, who was actually slowish for a player of his size but frequently looked exceptionally quick because he got to full pace very rapidly when he moved to the contest.

If JT or Steele try to baulk another tackler with their light ass frame instead of first option handball or kick I’ll lose it. It’s beyond a joke and costs field position, momentum and goals.

I got to say, great game. We should be up by more...they were always going to come back at us.

I feel like the boys got a bit too comfortable late in the term. Need to get back to controlling the ball. If we play too fast and reckless bombers will defeat us. Too fast.

It's a good effort to work Thomas and Sidebottom into the same sentence, there. Wink Sidebottom 390 metres gained and 18 disposals in a half of football; Thomas 1 useful kick.

Wonka may have made the mistake of thinking your comment was on today's game - what with it being in the game thread and all.
