You’re right Piedys - forgot Moore (and shouldn’t have). He was probably in my top 3 today. Was everywhere when we were under the pump and that sliding half volley collect (4q?) where he couldn’t quite get there to take the mark was sublime. I thought the way he manipulated the crowd to help the team was clever too. He’s really growing into the captaincy.

Thanks to that fat arse Stringer for trying to shove Nick around at the first bounce certainly fired him up mate!!!!

|
There's many things that blow me away about the Daicos brothers - their heritage, skills, humility, love for the Pies, their huge work rate etc etc
But above all, I love the way they support each other . In particular, just watching Josh being thrilled to see his younger brother win the Anzac Day medal. No jealousy evident, just pride in his brother's achievements.
Being just a supporter looking on, I can't help but wonder how important Josh has been to Nick's success (Peter aside of course). |

Great win, where does that rank in the victories you've had at the club?

It seemed like in the first three quarters you're obviously winning enough of the ball forward of centre, but you were playing into the Essendon defenders hands a bit. What did you change up in the final quarter?

You guys look super fit the way you overran Essendon. Is that one of your biggest weapons?

There's no time to relax with Adelaide to come in 5 days time. How will you prepare for that with the Crows having a 2-day extra break?

Your thoughts on Nick Daicos' performance, especially in the final quarter?

What happened to Scott Pendlebury?

With the lack of talls, do you put it on your midfield and say 'this is what we don't have so you have to lift' or is it a 'structural plug in' and role play?
| Quote: | | "Yeah, that's actually the same language you used; 'plug and play'. Trey Ruscoe got an opportunity today. He's been playing terrific at VFL level. We talk about selection integrity. We want to reward players that are playing above the level down there. Josh Fraser is doing an enormous job for us. Lots of injuries like you said, but Trey comes in and he just looks like us. We're defending well as a team and he knows how to defend. He knows how to win one on ones, that's his great strength and we got to see that in the second half of the game. I thought that was really important for us so it's a 'plug and play' mentality. We'll get some troops back at some stage, but right now we trust the guys that are playing". |
What did you make of Darcy Moore's speech after the game in his first year as skipper?

That was our biggest comeback from 3QT since 1987 and our 4th biggest comeback in history from 3QT.

Frampton was huge today, we could wish for a KcKay, but jeez he didn't look far from it.
That mark reminded me of the Big Saveloy.. been a while since we have seen someone like that take a clunk in front of goals.
Nick Daicos's second goal.. the camera was on the '35' , and it was so Deja vu.
In one game, I got to see the reincarnation of Saverio Rocca and Peter Daicos. lol |

Some great posts. Shout out to Jezza in particular.
Frampton stood up against the in form ruck duo that smashed Melbourne last week. To top it off with a critical goal was incredible. What a top piece of recruiting and great to see him build his confidence.
McCreery - love him. An absolute beast. He is a bit like a modern day Darren Millane in his ferocity to the ball and tackling or attacking the opposition. He also damages the opposition too. A very smart player.
Sidey - what a superb game. So good to see and his ball handling and smarts in tough situations are a joy to watch. How good was his defensive mark at the City end?
I won’t talk about the obvious - N and J Daicos!!!
I thought Ruscoe did a good job and is a solid mark and a good kick.
Elliott - did a few nice things but his goal kicking is off. I think he is holding the ball incorrectly - may be to counteract a draw or hook he has with his kicking. Goal kicking is a bit like driving or putting in golf. It is touch, feel and power.
The team spirit is indomitable - I heard that the famous soccer team Real Madrid has a simple motto - we never give up. Well, that looks like this team to me.
It is super enjoyable to watch this side. Brilliant coaching and a great fearless approach is paying dividends. Once we get a couple of key talls back, watch out!

One other thing, and I seldom mention it - the umpiring was perplexing for much of the day. I was pretty annoyed by it and that doesn’t happen much nowadays - as I am a bit more objective than in my youth
