P. Ryan, The Age:

"Collingwood defender Darcy Moore trained strongly on Friday night...

Moore played on Ben Reid in match simulation...

The only notable absentee ... was ... Brodie Grundy, who was managed after a home-and-away season where he played every game.

Steele Sidebottom ran laps with Brayden Sier and Nathan Murphy but he moved freely ... and appears in little doubt to return for the qualifying final.

Jordan De Goey trained well and is set to play his first game for a month..."

The talk on Moore would have you think he hasn't been on the park for a decade. He played 15 games this year. The decision to play or not isn't like last season, so much so it's not a decision at all. Quite simply, he plays.

I like the sound of that.
I would think that playing on one of the best tall defenders in the league in match simulation woudl be equivalant to a VFL hitout , if not moore so assuming they went in pretty hard.
If Reid looked good he should be in.

"Matt Scharenberg also trained fully and looked to have recovered from being concussed..."

Shaz, Aish and Thomas trained
Quaynor and Kelly were not sighted (by me at least)

Observations:
- Aish: no visible tape on shoulder; moved freely, provided good linking option during match sim
- Thomas: had knee strapped; appeared to move freely
- Reid: no visible tape; looked very good actually, did not seem to be hindered at all - was leading freely and providing a good target. Wonder if we risk him at some point..?
- Moore: looked good; penetrating kick and speed on display
- Sidebottom, Murphy & Sier: ran laps. Saw Sidey take a few running shots/snaps at goal, too. Think he'll be okay for Friday
- Grundy: did not train - apparently was managed. According to his social media he was getting his hair done, look out for his new look: cornrows Cool
- JDG: IMO was BOG. Speed and goal-kicking were on display; very vocal (which surprised me)
- Wells: knee strapped; his vision and beautiful kicking were on display. Unfortunately think he has run out of time to prove match fitness but perhaps a "break glass in case of emergency" option
- T Brown: impressed by his evasiveness and work in traffic - excited to see him play seniors next year, particularly after solid pre-season

^except for Grundy changing his hair style. This should be banned at Collingwood until the end of the season. We’ve seen what effects Bucks shaving his beard and Darcy losing the longer locks has had.

That is great Ads7! Many thanks!

I'm guessing they'll be an updated list on Tuesday but;

Quote:
Darcy Moore - Hamstring (TEST)

Matt Scharenberg - Concussion (TEST)

Steele Sidebottom - Ruptured Testicle (TEST)

Brayden Sier - Concussion (TEST)

James Aish - Shoulder (TEST)

Jordan De Goey - Hamstring (TEST)

Josh Thomas - Knee (TEST)

Ben Reid - Calf and Hamstring (TEST)

All those listed as TEST either trained or played in the practice game and all look to be available for selection. Stephenson will also be back. Very exciting.

And the rest we wont be seeing until early 2020:

Quote:
Isaac Quaynor - Foot (Season)

Will Kelly - Hamstring (Season)

Mason Cox - Eye (Season)

Dayne Beams - Hip/Shoulder (Season)

Lynden Dunn - Knee (Season)

Tom Langdon - Knee (Season)

Unless Dunn retires of course.

No worries at all! Team selection incl. emergencies will be very interesting.

Wonder if the Cats will pull a last minute change before the game like they’ve done a number of times in the past few years. Their injury profile is much better than ours so if they do make a late change then imo is funny business in an attempt to throw us off.

That’s different!!!!

Move from who is fit to play
TO
Who can we fit in from all our options

they both changed to more conventional looks so maybe it's more whether you go more vanilla or more radical in look...

Gleeson: "Of likely first-22 players only Dayne Beams and Mason Cox are unavailable, with defender James Aish also declared fit after suffering a shoulder injury in round 18."

(That may be putting a positive spin on things. There are others injured who may have become first-22 players if they hadn't been injured.)
