I have heard also that Davide Santon is very close if not already back to training for Newcastle. Great news for the boys.

3-1. Greta opening goal from Ba.
Dream start, best since 1995 when finished second.
Hopefully we now don't put our best few players on the market at Christmas time.......

Enjoyed the game, until they scored, but Demba Ba getting a hattrick certainly put an end to some fears. Leon Best and Demba Ba are working well together early, give them more time I reckon they will be a very good pairing.

It's good to put all that summer drama behind us and we're doing well, I am happy with how the Toon are going.

Demba Ba scores in the 17th minute against Wolves, it's 1-nil.

Jonas almost scored as well, but just couldn't find a way to sneak the ball into the back of the net.

^Absolutely brilliant so far!!!! I'm rapt!! Still early days though.......

From the position we're in, we should be aiming for Europe - but every team goes through a flat spot in a 38 game league season. I just hope ours comes after we've hit the 40 point mark.
**knock on wood** 40 points shouldn't be a problem on current form though.

Scoring enough goals on a consistent basis is what I see now as our only problem in achieving something half-decent this season.
The performances so far (apart from in the attacking third) have gone a fair way to winning me over.
Solid back 4, promising young midfield, but IMO we are a top-quality striker short of being a genuine top 6-8 contender at this stage.

Much better than being in a relegation dogfight though, as I was bracing myself for..........
