It appears the organisation is accredited, but the manager
(Mr Marinas) doing all the negotiating is not. The AFL late this afternoon warned that any club dealing with Mr Marinas would be in breach of the CBA.
On radio today, Mr Marinas said Toovey had been informed of every move by his management team.
Either Toovey is so disenchanted with Pert and Walsh that he is determined to move on, or he is mighty naive to think that a manager could secure him $350,000 for 2 years at Collingwood.
Elsewhere Tooves may well be able to command a figure like that, but not at salary-cap strapped Collingwood, where many players are taking pay cuts.
$220,000 a year is pretty good dough Alan; just accept it and remain in the mix for multiple premierships.

If you've been on the list for 6 seasons and still cannot kick, I highly doubt you can command that type of money.

As I said in the other thread, I'll wait till it plays out before commenting too much.

He is only young and I don't know how innocent he is but it would't be the first time that a wannabe manager/'snake oil salesman has got in someones ear, told them how they were worth so much more than what they were getting, promised them the world, then stuffed up. Well meaning people get sucked into cons every day.
I'll reserve my judgement until after the dust has settled.

Come on Stui, we still got plenty of knives left to stick into this premiership player and if it turns out its all hogwash just back away slowly and scream out TOOOOVES next time he saves our ass in defence... 
Anyway, I hope we'd hear from Alan, Eddie or Walshy tomorrow that this thing has been blown out pf porportion and Jim goes back to selling used Subaru WRX's for a living... |
