The reason they showed the saints v dons game live was because a aussie was playing tennis,i think it was a wimbledon this year and to fit it all in,they moved the footy game to 7.30pm. Surprise,it was still very good ratings and the gate wasn't affected at all. Yet,i was amazed that they said in the paper 'all friday games have been at 8.30pm this year'. Enough of the complaing,it won;t be changed and all of us unlucky not to have a ticket(even tho i am a member with a reserved seat i won;t be there as i can't afford the airfares etc) will have 2 put up with the rubbishing,biased essendon commentators on the radio.Tho,i won;t be listening as they seem to go badly whenever i listen to the radio . I may pop into chat to see how things r going.

Channel 9's rule for cricket is that if it's a sell out - it's on live. Which usually isn't good for Melbourne, as it's a lot harder to sell out the 'G' than the SCG.

I'd always thought the same applied to aussie rules. It should!

if its a sellout it must mean it is an important game so show it live.7,10 and 9 will be the first to complain if foxtel take over the tv rights because they can show it live so how about it channel 9

I would like 9 to lose friday footy altogether.
if they want to show burke and his rotten yard they deserve to lose footy on fridays.
10 would show it live,they do with all their games so do fox.
9 is the weakest link in footy!!!!

I think it should be live, the game is now sold out, except for Standing Room in AFL Members Reserve (or so I've been told).

Burke's Backyard can be put back to next week. Come on Nine, show it live.

well dont they usually put on a repeat of friday nights episode of burkes backyard on the next day at like 12:00 anyway? if they dont anymore... why dont they do it? as if more people r gunna watch burkes backyard over the game

As one person mentioned on radio its lucky ch 9 doesnt have the grand final or that may be on a four hour delay.

Also the Melbourne Cup could clash with Days of Our lives so i hope channel 9 doesnt bid for that.

Dark Lord you obviously have no idea how much worse it is to watch a delayed game.

If the game is televised live it it is the next best thing to being at the game. You feel you can get more involved in the game although you are in your lounge room. You can call up Ess suporters that annoy you and tell them how much fun you are getting watching Collingwood kick essscums ass

I prefer to watch footy on Tele then listen to radio, that may be just me but i get frustrated with commentators too easily if i can't see for my self whats going on.

When I wait for it an hour delayed I can not answer any phone calls or look at any SMS during the game because some bastard could ruin the viewing experience by telling you the scores.

I really hope Channel 9 snap out of there Burkes backyard dreamworld and show it live

No, I don't, because I don't see the difference 1 hour can make. Whenever I've been desperate to find out the progress of the game, I listen to MMM. No big deal.
