You cannot have a private company or sponsors name on public land.

That is the issue forget the media beat up.

Really, well then Eddie should give it to them over that. If they have set that precedent they have no grounds to challenge. Oxley is a die-hard Fitzroy person who hates Collingwood so that could be his reason. Lets see what happens I reckon it will be the Bob Rose Oval not the Lexus Bob Rose Oval. With no signage of Lexus on the footy oval itself.

The Government will step in. It's our football oval, if they don't like they can kick us out and we head back to VP. The only reason the Government injected funds into OP were because the Pies agree to go there. If Collingwood leaves OP, it will die as there will be no injection of the money required for it’s up keep.

I had never heard of this Trust. I wonder how much you get for serving on this Trust. I wonder how you get appointed to a position on this Trust.

Going by the background setting when that Trust guy was being interviewed by the tele, they are situated very nicely. Mind you, that interview could have been at this guys own home in Toorak (or Camberwell).

Heaven forbid we offend the sensibilities of these kind of people.

I for one will be trying to remember to call it the Bob Rose Oval from here on then.

By the way, we are only talking about the oval, not the whole complex aren't we?

Just the oval, the naming of the complex is fine. But considering that the complex was used during the Olympics, and they have allowed for the re-naming of that, where is the problem?

BTW, the Pies have been banned from using the oval, until this is all sorted out. Checkout this thread: http://www.magpies.net/nick/bb/viewtopic.php?t=16908

http://www.mopt.com.au/pages/venues/oval.asp

This page is all about the oval. As I posted on LSD, I can't see how they find naming an oval after such a large sporting and community figure such a problem seeing, as they created a damn dog track on what is such important land of 'historical and sporting significance'.

What a crock!!

Also, this is only going to be a TRAINING GROUND FFS! John Landy had little to do with football and it is like naming a pool at the Albert Park Aquatic Centre after Tony Shaw - it doesn't make sense.

JLC also suggested Eddie tell the Herald-Sun to stick their column that he writes after such a stupid front page from them.

Here, Here !

Jen
