His manager, Liam Pickering, said in the paper yesterday that he wouldn't be entering the National Draft because of the chance that he may be forced to go to an interstate side, which he doesn't want.

Richmond are going for a ruckman, probably Knobel, and they have no expired contracts remaining, which means that there is no secret cap space that they could tap into.

Hawthorn are going for youth, and they've got too much money invested in guys like Crawford and Smith to have anything left anyway.

Not to mention both of those teams have no space to waste, as they have to fit in the contracts of a lot of early draft choices in.

The Doggies simply don't have the money, and even if they did, they don't have all that much use for Caracella.

He's most likely coming here, as has been stated a million times.

I thought the Bulldogs wouldn't be apart of the PSD anyway?

Yeah, not too sure about that, I think with another delisting they COULD be, but they probably won't be keen to add more salary if they don't need to.

Sounds like the deal is all but done. Bonus pick up - at no expence. Don't forget he will tip O'Bree out of the side as well...

Drafting Carracella also brings with the pleasure of preventing Sheedy reclaiming him & watching select Blumfield to recycle instead.

Cool

If he puts the price on his head it wont matter. Bottom line is that Hawthorn are fully invested in a youth policy, Bulldogs are reasonably cash and cap strapped and Richmond have enough draft picks not to take Blake, at the same time with Zantuck on the list still, if he goes its a reasonable pay out they are looking at.

Like everyone else, I'll believe it when I see it, but I think the Pies obviously knew something was in the pipeline when they agreed to release McGough, the extra space seems to have been filled.

I'd say another thing prehaps stopping Richmond is that it's been reported they are after Knobel if they can get rid of Zantuck.

I'm with everyone else though. It just seems to easy at this stage and I'm having serious doubts. I'll believe it when I see it.

Hawthorn can take Caracella and still go with a youth policy, i don't know why people assume that is a reason why Caracella will get to us.

Cam can you outline the platforms and ideals of Hawthorn's youth policy please.

They would easily have enough to fit 250K. Thompson, Barlow, Graham, Picione, Cox all gone would have opened up plenty.

Still, if they have a 5 year plan (which seems all the rage for rebuilidng clubs these days) it wouldn't make sense picking anyone up over 25 with such an early PSD pick. I'd expect them to either pick up a young VFL player with that pick like Steve Bailey who is training with them atm (23, Box Hill B&F) or just pass on the pick and take an extra kid in the ND.

But who knows what will happen!

Clakrson doesn't seem keen for anyone over 25. Most coaches would have kept Graham. He is all but ours....
