$10000000 doesn't go far, you have to either pick 2-3 superstars with speculative players in each section, or all average players (aroung $300k).

I'm in.

This is basically another version of the AFL's Dreamteam competition.

Dale Thomas (and all other draft newbies) are there. You have to look through the positions more carefully. He's listed as a forward at $87,200.

$10 million is plenty. It's all about cap management and being sensible. You can't have too many superstars otherwise you run out of cap money and the competition won't let you in properly until you come in under the cap.

You can select a couple of stars in each of the positions - back, centre, ruck and forward - but you need some mid range players and some newbies. Beware paying too much in the beginning for some superstar blokes whose ranking (and value) is based upon a terrific year last season. If they start off badly, they lose value and you mightn't get that money back.

You can trade, so look for value early; select someone with a low cap value from last year - maybe they had an interrupted season - who will increase in value through getting back to a more normal season.

Look for some low value players in the early days of their careers who may have breakout seasons this year; their value will go up, so you can trade them in for the cap money and go for a star who is earning good points.

Watch out for the players with big stats but a reputation for clangers. Unlike the AFL competition, the stats used in this game include penalties for clangers. Severe penalties. A clanger kick loses 8 points and a clanger handball 6 points.

You can change your side around as much as you like for the next three weeks until the season kicks off, so do that and see if you can create a better balanced side for the money.

Have fun!

I'm in. Love this stuff. Three comps for three finals last year. The Pie curse got me in the end.
