Spot on, Dave.
There's talk on BigFooty about a supporters association. Well, I for one'd be more than pleased with that. |

Yes, good point.... but who needs civility when you can bully people with lawyers?
And sue the AFL? Probably wouldn't work, but they deserve it alright... _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Very shortsighted by the AFL - these are fan sites run by folk who aren't multi squillionaires and making money at AFL expense but fans of the game that the short a*se tools in charge are slowly but surely destroying
Can they not see that their actions are alienating the people who support the game and have done for many years?
So many folk I know who have been long term members and attendees have lost interest due to the direction, corporate environment, state of the game - whatever you want to call it

A supporters association will never happen, how dare the supporter think that he or she has any say or opinion on our game, im afraid any such uprisings usually dont succeed, pay your money shut up.... and put up with sub standard umpiring that we saw on queens birthday thats what its all about..., so your also telling me that the donald ducks of the internet world are going to step away from computer and do something...shock horror...the bloody planet must of come to a complete stop during the night _________________ Football is Greatness

what's warez got to do with this?
fansites are only good when the afl need them around to say "we have **** AFL fansites" the rest of the time the unrestrained opinions of fans are barely tolerated, the net is now the only place people can have a open public debate about our game without the AFL restrictions on what can be said, it is only a matter of time before they work out a way to silence this avenue of dissent and criticisms, trying to form some cohesive fans movement would only speed up the day where they try to silence us all.
it's their game now not ours, and I'm fairly sure this isn't the type of environment the clubs had envisaged when they all signed up and formed the AFL. I can just about garentee you the Victorian Clubs never saw the handing over of premiership cups to brisbane coming when they signed up, never thought that they'd be treated like crap by the very organisation set up to take them into the future. |
