Correct me if I'm wrong but if Murphy's contract is coming up for renewal, and we tell him not to re-sign with carlton, come to Collingwood for $700K/year, would he not then demand that price from carlton? So carlton has the choice to pay extra and face potential salary cap issues, or trade/let him go in PSD.

Carlton: "Bye Mark, hope it all goes well for you"
AFL: "Good recruiting Collingwood, who else would you like?"
