I find it amazing that so many people hate Collingwood.
Most will say it's due to our supporters, all clubs have a certain percentage of idiot fans, we may have more due to the fact that we have a larger supporter base, but is that really it, is it just simply based on numbers?
Hate in sport is usually a result of a strong rivalry or a nemesis. Who the hell have we hurt in the past 50 years apart from Essendon in 1990?
As for Collingwood supporters, our hatred is mainly directed towards Carlton & recently to a lesser extent Brisbane, this makes sense to me as they have caused pain. This tends to makes us stronger and more passionate. Is this it? we just simply will not go away no matter how many times we are hurt and this annoys the rest of the football world?
Maybe it stems from our dominance of 50 years ago? opposition fans and to an extent the media have passed on this mentality to a new generation of supporters? it's a strange one.
It seems we will always be hated, hopefully one day it will be for the right reasons.

thats the thing, it must piss them off that we have a right to the claim as biggest club in the land and we have done shit all for 50 years 
best sponsors, sell most papers, best attendance, best facilities, always in the news, all the blockbusters etc
its a blessing and a curse
the rivalry between carlton is on another level thuogh and obviously has its roots a long long long time before i was born.. but im so glad its still alive and if carlton finally gets its act right for 2009 and we're both challenging for finals, its gonna be massive

I'd be more worried if we were not being hated. We must be doing something right to piss the other insignificant clubs off. Maybe its because we play blockbusters week in and week out. Maybe its the fanatical , through thick and thin supporting mentality of our supporters, that irks the others. Or the real support our club gets (never cap in hand, like many other clubs), of sponsors and members. Collingwood domination..the envy of the nation. Maybe not on the field (YET!), but people know it is coming. We definately get more bang for our buck than any other club. Can be a rollercoaster, sure (as Maxwell Smart would say)
......and....loving it!

I agree totally - it just amazes me that the deluded fools that consistently bag us cannot realise that if we we weren't there they wouldn't exist - NOT NEXT WEEK, NOT NEXT YEAR - BUT THE TIME WILL COME

Seems to be an unwritten law by non Collingwood people that it's ok to rodger anything Collingwood..But god help us if we dare to rodger em back, i'm happy to be a rodgerer and not a rodger dodger...LOL
