It's simple really. Jolly is clearly our number 1 ruckman and Wood will never replace him of that role, until Jolly doesn't play anymore.
Wood is more than serviceable as the number 2 ruckman. He was impressive against the Suns back in round 10 this year, but he's been poor in the VFL. He was playing decent footy last year when Jolly was injured, but I don't think Wood will ever be a consistently good player for the club.
Considering he was a first-round pick for Brisbane and Collingwood were willing to give him a second chance, the recruiters must believe he has talent for a ruckman, but he's obviously never displayed his full potential nor do I expect him to display it in the future unfortunately.
