This, Brown is not tall and did have the reach to match Tippett. This week I would give Keefe the job on franklin!

Agree about Tippett, when he leads straight at the ball and puts the hands up in front of him, Brown had zero chance to spoil legally, Keeffe was the only one with a hope because of the extra height and reach.

With Franklin I'd be inclined to give first go to Goldsack. He has the speed and agility, has the height, lacks the strength to go man on man but Buddy gets most of his ball on the move anyway and isn't a great overhead mark. Marching him for agility is as important if not more than height.

Thing Toovey on Darling. match up his strength as best as we can.

Nice point re Toovey/Darling. Had occurred to me too, but worried about strength even though contested marking is not usually his game.

Only thing that needs to be put in a bag is the above.

Nathan brown owes the club nothing this year. Been a rock down back and had one bad night. Move on.[/quote]

and one bad twilight(?) against Jeremy Cameron a couple of weeks earlier.

But I agree with your defence of our defender. He's been pretty good across the season and Tippett and Cameron can both play.

That's a bit of left field thinking there Stui; Goldsack to Franklin. Not the worst idea I've heard.
Brown to Roughead.
Keefe to ?? Hale when forward for sure, but no match-up when Hale goes onto the ball.
Who goes to Gunston?? Reid maybe, but would love to see him continue up forward. Nobody else is a good match-up for size though, except Goldsack. We miss Toovey badly.

Unfortunately there is probably a mismatch somewhere in Hawthorn's forward line.

This will be a game where Brown gets rested on match ups.

He does not have the speed or height to match it with Gunston, Roughhead or Franklin.

Unfortunately Reid will need to play back with Keffee and Goldsack on any combination of the above.

I think we will go in with Witts/Grundy/Lynch with one spending a lot of time forward.

cameron got 3 gifts when brown played on him 2 in the goal square and a lucky bounce, yeh he was too quick for him but he didn't get a lot of support as i don't think anyone was trying but he is a perfect match for roughead as long as there is pressure on there mids and maxy seems to have come into some form so theres the support

Brown 195cm/101kg vs Roughead 193cm/100kg looks OK to me
Franklin 196/103? try Keefe 204/102 I reckon initially
Gunston 193/84 appears better for Goldy 193/92

Others
David Hale 204/102
Maxy 193/93

If all 4 up fwd perhaps risk Goldsack on Franklin and Keefe to Hale & Maxwell/Gunston.

I think we back our mids in against their's and keep Reid up forward. Otherwise they pick off Cloke too easily.
Keep Lake vs Cloke, Reid/Gibson and Stratton/Lynch and keep them separated.

Great defender, had a poor game, Tippet was on fire and the delivery into the forward line was giving Browny no chance.

Not to mention Tippett was gifted two frees from what seemed to be textbook spoils by Brown Confused

Don't have an issue with the frees Tippett got, they were there, a bit tiggy yes, but there. Only wish Cloke and Reid got the same.

I think I'd prefer Goldsack to pick up Gunston, if he's fit and gets sellected.

Fitness of Bailey could change all of that. Grimley (199/96) played last week and Ceglar (204/94) the previous week so it's likely that the Hawks will play a 2nd ruck option either way.
