Yet another Caroline Wilson muckraking beatup.
She's had Swannie in her sights for ages. Now she thinks she's got something. Good luck!
Neil Appleby's admiration for Caro mystifies me but each to their own.

Devils advocate here. The AFL rules are clear about guilt by association. Swan is not the sharpest tool in the shed and no doubt his motive was totally innocent but the rules are there and the bloke at fault is his so called mate who set him up for it as a favour.

Luckily I never pointed the finger at Pushup King so I can say Swan did nothing wrong. Neither did King. Freedom of association and all that. Unless they're committing crimes then who gives a shit? Media beat up, storm in a teacup, whatever you want to call it.

Also, a manager directly contradicting a client in a media controversy is poor form. Swan should give him the arse straight away.

Come off the grass Harrysz, Caro's paid to do a job and she does it well; I don't always agree with her though. Last Friday on 3AW she suggested Eddie and Collingwood threatened the AFL into a backdown over Equalisation. Whilst I'd love that to be true I don't believe it. How could Eddie threaten the AFL? I wrote Caro a long, very critical letter on Saturday like I would any journo writing such tripe.

Anyway, back to Swanny, I think he lives on the edge and that's fine and he likes to hang around with different types and that's fine too, but he has a duty to the Club to be smart and sensible about it. On the surface, this party looks harmless, but I hope it doesn't destabilise the team just when we are flying under the radar.

Doesn't seem a non-story to me. Seems Swan did something stupid.

Not sure why anyone'e up in arms over the reporting of this. It seems Swanny has done something very stupid and not been entirely truthful about it. And of course the media will report on it, it is a story.

From reading the article, I'd say the only issue here is why did Swan say that Pickering had organised it, when he had not.

All this other rubbish about him staying 3 hours, not 90 minutes, is irrelevant.

Well, I'd rather he didn't do it, but really, its hardly a scandal. Its not as if he invited Gatto into the rooms after a game.

I'd trust Gatto more than I'd trust Pickenhisring.

Gatto is actually involved in heaps of legit business operations these days so it's a beat up. One of our sponsors has a lot of Gatto money behind them.

No, like with the Eagles players a few years back, it's like he's associating with gangsters. It is at least a dumb thing to do and was always going to be reported on.

Must be dropped to send a message to the playing group.
Or do we want Grundy, Frost and Seedsman hanging with Melbourne's thugs next?

We are not Richmond and will not tolerate this.

My only question is why he has told the club the Pickering organised it, when he didn't. This is my issue, not the fact he went to the function.

Yes, we would prefer he didn't do it. But, to drop him? I don't think so.

Yep, so can I.

Honestly, who cares??? Adult men can attend anything they like, paid or otherwise, in their own time as long as they're not breaking any laws.

Maybe not the wisest choice but a storm in a teacup.
