We need to play 3 talls in the forward line. I know White didn't pull up in time for that game, but himself and Cloke need to play as permanent forwards with Gault to take over as the 2nd ruck. I know at times last year we looked okay with Grundy and Witts rucking together, sometimes at the same stoppage, but that doesn't help our forward line much. We need to stick with 1 specialist ruckman. Gault has shown enough that he can be our new Leigh Brown, and White looked fantastic as a stand alone forward in the Hawks game.

Once we learn how to compose ourselves against those quick running teams (when did Carlton become that?) the service to Cloke will get better, just like it was to White and co. 2 weeks ago against the Hawks.

Along with Karnezis/Elliott/Faz we will finally have a forward line to work with from here on out.

If White came good this late in his career it would be a surprise. There have been players (Leigh Brown, Earl Spalding) that have had one good year out of ten so I'm not giving up hope, but I wouldn't be counting on Jessie to be our answer up forward.

You don't improve by practicing the same stuff you already do. So blowing off the bombing away as not being relevant because it was a practice match is dangerous. You get better by practicing new ways to improve. If we are still running around with the same mentality regarding forward entries then we can probably expect the same in the season proper.

Yep, and he still can't kick straight. Grrrrrr

I'd rather we copped a shellacking than lose by a few and learn absolutely nothing because it's same old same old. Try something else. Stick Cloke in defence for a while, teach him to get in front, and bomb the ball again. Hell if he can stop there in to 50 passes, he can kick it back down to our square almost, doesn't matter how accurate it is, the playing field is pretty wide.

I only get to see the games on telly so i dont get the full perspective of whats going on, but does he ever lead, it always seems hes in a wrestling match which just aint gonna work when your getting double and triple teamed.

He either needs to get seriously more mobile, be a decoy and never kick the ball near him or move to chb maybe for a freshen up.

The team is going through some major changes and Clokey needs to reinvent himself cause hes just treading water.

Cloke was kickin 60-70 a season not too long ago. And that was even when we lost Leigh Brown and Dawes was 2nd rucking. The bloke knows how to play forward. He just needs it kicked to the right place (back then we had better disposals of the footy) and some decent foils along side him. Simple as that. Buckley's transition game is only going to help him more, getting the ball to him quicker than other defenders can run back to double and triple team him.
