Correction:
Patrick Smith quit Essendon over the underhanded & disgraceful manner in which the club sacked Mathew Knights & lied to its members at the time.
He took out a Richmond membership.
Early on he wanted Hird to stand down because of the inept management at the time that allowed for the allegations to occur & that the entire management ought to have been replaced. The Essendon players would not be in the position they are in now because of the actions of Essendon management including the coach Hird
(I reckon he still barracks for Essendon,)
