On League Teams last night, Shaw explained it was a list of most Talented players he'd seen at the Pies. Not the best Players.

I only arrived in the country in the 80's and supported the pies from the first time i saw the magnificent back and white stripes Smile

So from the players I saw live I would include…

1 Daicos (best footballer of a generation with the other guy born in 1961 - Ablett)

2 Buckley
3 Pendles
4 Swan
5 Didak
6 Millane
7 Brown
8 H Shaw
9 Burns
10 A Shaw

Just a note Shaw specifically stated 'most talented' pies he's seen. Talent doesn't necessitate playing 250+ games and being a great leader etc. No arguments with Daics #1 here.

Fair enough. I don't think Tony Shaw would have played with (or even seen) John Greening because he would easily be number one on my list with the same selection guidelines. Daylight second and then the others.

I'd still have Greening ahead of Daics.

Like I said Daz, maybe Shaw hasn't/hadn't seen Greening play. Rolling Eyes

He's a couple of weeks younger than me and I saw him play, and I had to travel from Echuca/Moama to do so. Surely he could have stolen a car out in Reservoir and driven a few miles down the road. It's even on the same train line as Vic Park unless I'm mistaken.

All of them great players. Couple of others - Bobby Rose, Tully, Price. Dad would have said the Colliers and Coventrys, Regan, Fothergill, Todd and Whelan.

Fantastic to hear that stuff 69.

I happen to know Colin Tully who resides in Bendigo and regularly attends the functions organised by the Bendigo Collingwood Supporters Club, along with Rene Kink, Ray Byrne and occasionally Phil Carmen and Peter McCormack.
Colin is such a humble bloke and talking with him is a fabulous experience for a long time Collingwood Supporter like me. His footy stories are fabulous.

John Greening played for Collingwood from 1968–1972, and 1974–1976. However his best footy was during the first spell.

Tony Shaw played from 1978 to 1994 so may have been too young to remember Greening playing at his very best before that bloody dirty St Kilda mongrel and utter thug Jimmy O’Dea threw a Cowards punch and knocked him right out... Evil or Very Mad Mad

Too young to have seen Bobby Rose. Old man rates him as the best he's seen. Used to love watching Barry Price and Wayne Richardson.
