Would've loved a top 20 pick, or at least another before 30, but I'd be v happy with this, and hopeful that Daicos slides to rookie draft...

I thought that since we nominated Daicos (and Brown), we take him with our last pick if there are no takers.

If no other team nominates they can slide through to the rookie draft. Ideally, we'd get both Brown and Daicos as rookie picks and use our ND to fill other needs, but can't see both sliding that far.

I've tried but can't find an answer to this.

If no other clubs bid on them, are they still able to select them in the draft if we leave them til late or, by nominating them, are they ours unless someone else bids and we don't match that (in which case they go to the team that bids)

How does that part actually work?

If no club bids on Daicos or Brown, we get them whenever we want, either with our final pick in the draft, or as rookies (or we can pass on them of course).

Brown will be bid on, definitely in the first 40 picks, that is an absolute 100% certainty.

The club is hoping however that Daicos is not bid on and we can then rookie list him, because out of the two kids he is the one who needs another 12 months (at least) before being ready to make his senior debut.

ta for that, so no other club can decide to draft them, even in the rookie draft? They're ours to pick up or not if no one else bids ?

We would get first crack at them before the rookie draft. If we passed on either they would then go back into the draft pool and anyone could pick them up.

Also note we get a 197 point reduction on father sons (who aren't bid on in the first round). 197 points works out to be almost an entire round in the points table from the third round on.

Stock up on some key position players.

Tom Stewart from Geelong VFL or Ryan Pendlebury.

I haven't followed the under 18s as closely this year, so I haven't raised any younger guys.

Gee some people go over the top rating recruiting for clubs that win a flag.

Don't get me wrong I was absolutely wrapt for the plate lickers and believe they have a helluva tight knit unit.

But . . . .

They were fortunate with the draw having a bye just at the right time, and to anyone that believes they didn't get an unbalanced run from the umps I have some beachfront property called Atlantis that I have going cheap.

Again having said that good luck to them but please a flag doesn't mean perfection despite what the idiot media prattles on about.

1. Brennan Cox, tall defender, we need to take a tall with this pick
2. Brown (will use points frm 2nd pick to match bid)
3. Daicos (will use points from 3rd pick to match bid)
4. Brett Eddy

VFL watchers will know about Eddy from a few years back. He will be drafted, or at worse rookied, and had a really strong year in the SANFL where he kicked 74 goals from 20 games. Great backup for Moore, and may even push White out of the senior side.

We need to stock up on our key positions, we are close to the weakest in the league in both KP forwards and KP defender depth.
Eddy is great at VFL level, my view he will struggle at AFL level due to the commitment he will have to put in as a full time footballer.
